RESIDENCE HALL ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCK
Before you move in, you will need to install and configure the Verkada Pass app on your smartphone before moving into your residence hall.
Step 1: Download the Verkada Pass App
- Open the Apple App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Search for Verkada Pass.
- Download and install the app.
- Allow the requested permissions during installation.
Step 2: Enable Required Permissions
- iPhone
- Enable Bluetooth.
- Allow Location access.
- Change the Location setting to Always in your phone’s settings.
- Android
- Enable Bluetooth.
- Enable Location.
- Allow Notifications.
- These permissions are required for your phone to function as your room key.
Step 3: Sign In
- Enter the VSU email address that received your invitation.
- Select Log in with Single Sign-On.
- Complete the VSU login process using your standard VSU credentials.
- Important: Use the Log in with Single Sign-On option. Do not use the Password option.
Step 4: Unlock Your Door (Once on Campus)
- Make sure you are connected to campus wi-fi
- Open the Doors tab in the Verkada Pass app.
- Select your assigned residence hall door.
- Tap the blue lock icon to unlock the door.
- Close the door securely behind you.
- Please note: The doors will not show until you are within physical vicinity of the room.
Troubleshooting
- Make sure Bluetooth and Location Services remain enabled.
- If you are using Android and Bluetooth unlocking does not work immediately, restart your phone.
- If your room or building does not appear in the app, your access permissions may still be processing. Please contact Housing & Residence Life.
- If you need assistance, please contact the University Police Department (Non-Emergency) at 229-333-7816.
We recommend completing these steps before arriving on campus to ensure a smooth move-in experience.
