Fall 2022 Housing Information

Hello Blazer Nation.

Hello Students and Parents,

The time for Housing Selection for students who are currently living on campus to return for Fall 2022 is finally here. We have reserved over 1000 spaces for our returning students! This year, there are spaces for returners in Centennial, Hopper, Georgia, and Brown Hall. If you are planning on returning to on-campus housing, please read carefully and act quickly.

Thank you,
Housing and Residence Life

Now that the initial housing selection process has ended, we have opened up a waitlist for those who did not get to select a space and for those who selected a space, but are hoping to be assigned to something different.

If you have NOT filled out an application as a returning student for the 2022-2023 academic year, please complete the waitlist and we will contact you to assist you in completing the application.

    • IF a space comes available for you, we will contact you via your VSU email and a phone call. You will have 48 hours to respond to the offer, either accepting or denying, before we move on to the next student on the waitlist. If after 48 hours we have not heard from you, we will send an email confirming that we will be moving on to the next student in line.
    • If you deny your offer or do not respond in 48 hours, you will remain in your current 22-23 room reservation provided that you have one and no changes will be made.
    • The deadline for students to request to be removed from their assignment for the 22-23 academic year is April 1st at 2pm. After this time, students must go through the Release of Contract process which does not guarantee removal from the assignment.

Please consider if you would rather get your preferred assignment or stay with your roommate. If a space comes available for you, it is very likely it will be that one space.

To place yourself on the waitlist, please follow the link provided above to complete the form. Please be patient as we work through the waitlist and know that though this does not guarantee you will get a space offer,  we will do everything we can to assist you with your housing.

The application will open in the Housing Portal on Tuesday, February 22nd  at 10am and will close on Friday, February 28th at 3pm.  Students will not need to pay an application fee or housing deposit again during this process as long as they currently live on campus.  This is ONLY an application process and students will not select their housing assignment during this time frame.  This does NOT lock a student into a housing contract.

On March 7th, students will receive an email with steps on how to select a space and their assigned timeslot.  If a student goes through the selection process and signs a contract, they are locked into the contract for the academic year (Fall 2022 and Spring 2023).  We will only give out the number of timeslots that we have spaces available for.  If a student does not receive a timeslot, they will be placed on to a waitlist in the order in which they applied.  Not every student who is assigned a timeslot picks a space and any unclaimed spaces will then be offered to students on the waitlist.

If students are interested in our theme communities: ASL, Upperclassman Honors, Sullivan’s Scholars or Wellness, they will need to submit this form in addition to completing the application between February 22nd and February 28th. This application is due by 3pm on Friday, March 11th.  These students will not need to go through room selection and the housing office will assign them by what is indicated in this form in conjunction with the theme community contact’s sign off. Please note that if you are not verified by the theme community program coordinator that you are part of the community for the following year, you will not be able to be assigned to that floor. This is the application form that is due by 3pm on Friday, March 11th: Application Form

If you have any questions concerning returning student housing selection in regards to the application process, please contact the Housing Office at housing@valdosta.edu or by calling us at 229-333-5920. Details regarding which specific floors will be for returners and specific types of spots will be released early March.

ROOMMATE GROUPS.  This is a new part of our housing application process.  Students will need to identify groups of students they wish to live with, in either groups of 2 or 4.  A student can only request another student with an application on file for the same process.  For example, Joe and Dave want to be roommates.  Joe is working on his housing application but Dave has not submitted one yet.  Joe will not be able to request Dave.  Once Dave does his application, he can request to be in a roommate group with Joe and it will send a notification to Joe.  Joe then accepts Dave’s request and they are in a roommate group together.  Dave is the designated Group Leader as the student who created the group.  Dave can also invite Rick and Bob to be in the roommate group and once they accept, they can be a verified group of 4.  Roommate Groups will select first to ensure we can get requested roommates together, students that are not in a roommate group will select last.

Student selection process opens March 21st-March 25th.
  • Timeslots

Timeslots will be for March 21st-25th between 10m and 5pm each day. The entire room selection process will close on April 1st.  If a student misses their timeslot, they will be placed on the waitlist and contacted if a space becomes available.
