b'Sympathy towards Prostitutes in Two Gabriel Garca Mrquez StoriesStephanie Marie Oliveira, Department of Modern and Classical Languages Faculty Sponsor: Dr. Grayna Walczak, Department of Modern and Classical LanguagesProstitution is one of the most adverse realities in Latin America, especially when it comes to the sexual exploitation of children. Many literary works contain powerful descriptions of denigrated female bodies being turned into products of illicit consumption. In the stories written by Gabriel Garca Mrquez, The Incredible and Sad Story of the Naive Erndira and her Soulless Grandmother and Memory of My Sad Whores, the author was able to formulate the plight of the characters in such a way that was able to humanize prostitutes, as well as exalt the image of a woman, which encompasses prostitutes. This presentation examines the artistic means used by the author, in which he used to restore dignity to women of the profession, and it will also compare the differing attitudes Garca Mrquez portrayed towards prostitutes in two of his literary works.Simpata hacia las prostitutas en dos cuentos de Gabriel Garca MrquezStephanie Marie Oliveira, Department of Modern and Classical Languages Faculty Sponsor: Dr. Grazyna Walczak, Department of Modern and Classical LanguagesLa prostitucin es una de las ms desafortunadas realidades de Amrica Latina y del mundo, sobre todo si se trata de la explotacin sexual infantil.
