Douglas Thomas, Department of Aerospace Studies/AFROTCThis talk will examine the senior cadets of Detachment 172 as they navigate a mission to retrieve assets from a neighboring country. From human intelligence, it is understood that the country has been compromised by a foreign power and our assets are at risk in the region. Military and political strain from neighboring counties has caused instability in the reigning monarchy. Challenges to power have led the monarch to seek aid from a country adversarial to our own. To add to the list of issues, highly sensitive information has been leaked and more countries are aiding the monarch in his endeavor to keep power. With international attention rising, the cadets must recover all assets before something dire occurs.ArtRebel Rousers: New Perspectives on Old GhostsMitch Ogletree, Department of Art & DesignFaculty Sponsor: Dr. Rebecca Reynolds, Department of Art & DesignMy research proposes a nationwide travelling exhibition of Confederate monuments called Rebel Rousers: New Perspectives on Old Ghosts. This exhibition focuses primarily on statues of Confederacy leaders: Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, Stonewall Jackson, and Nathan Bedford Forrest. All these controversial historical landmarks were recently removed in the wake of the national debate over the legacy of racism and its monumental representation in America. The aim of this exhibition is to re-contextualize these relics of our divided past by shining a light on the historical figures they represent. This engagement debunks the alternate histories that influenced the creation of these monuments and humanizes the figures on display in order to encourage audiences to re-evaluate their feelings about these symbols, thus robbing them of their power. This poster presents the exhibitions visual arrangement inside of a gallery space along with the contextual information that would be used to inform the exhibition.15'
