OAT New Student Checklist Form

This form will help you ensure that you are ready to become a major and to be advised by an academic advisor in the following VSU degree program:

Please review How to Become an OAT Major before beginning the Checklist Form to make sure that you have completed all of the items listed on the form.

All items with a red asterisk * must be completed before this form can be submitted. Please read through the required items to make sure you are ready to complete the Checklist.

  • NOTE: If you have not completed the following orientations, please do that now:

    eCore Orientation Quiz  (only required for students who need classes in Core Areas A-E)

    You will then need to return to this page to submit the application.

    IMPORTANT: We may not be able to process your application without a valid VSU eMail Address. As part of the orientation, you should have set up your VSU eMail account. Please key in your @valdosta.edu email address here. This is the address that your advisor will use to contact you. As a student in the OAT Degree Program, you are expected to check your @valdosta.edu email account several times a week for messages from your advisor, instructors, the ACED Department, and the University.

  • By submitting this form, you are verifying that you understand that a 3-credit internship course will be required if you are not able to document three years of experiential learning.
  • NOTE: You can keep track of your overall GPA on your Transcript in Banner or in DegreeWorks.
  • MEETING THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA WILL LEAD TO A B.S. IN ADULT & CAREER EDUCATION WITH A MAJOR IN OFFICE ADMINISTRATION & TECHNOLOGY:

    Successful completion of USG Core curriculum requirements in Areas A-E (or equivalent) including a "C" or better in ENGL 1102 (or equivalent). See the Program of Study.

    Successful completion (or exemption) of all Area F, Major, and Guided Elective courses with a grade of "C" or better. See the Program of Study .

    Successful documentation of 3 experiential learning credits in ACED 2940 with a minimum of 3 years of valid, verifiable work-related experiential learning OR successful completion of a one-semester (220-hour) internship during your final semester in the program. The OAT Request for Experiential Learning Credit Form will be supplied by your OAT Academic Advisor.
