Neal Culbreth, Student Financial Services
This is the second time he has helped me on coordinating student insurance and finances for my daughter. Besides working on initial questions or requests, he also follows up to make sure things worked out.
Sterlin Sanders, IT
On the evening of January 10th, after normal working hours, I found myself unable to log in to my VSU account. As a University Police Department Communications Officer the computer software we use is mission critical. We provide emergency services to the University 24 hours a day- 365 days a year. Shortly after I contacted the IT Help Desk and started working with their staff to resolve the issue Sterlin responded to our office, and within a few minutes he was able to bring us back to full functionality. Sterlin's expertise and positivity make him a greatly valued member of the university team and I am deeply thankful for his help.
Wade Bugby, IT
I had a series of computer issues on my desktop, tablet, and laptop computers recently. Wade was super nice and patient in helping me solving these issues. It took him hours of research, and he had to contact staff from other departments from time to time. He was very pleasant and helpful the whole time. From my experience in the past years, Wade always goes above and beyond his normal duty every time I seek his help. VSU is truly blessed to have a dedicated person like Wade working on their IT team. Thank you, Wade!
Cathy Sowa, IT
I had network access issue with my computers today. Cathy was very helpful when we called her. She came right away and spent quite some time to resolve the issue. In addition, she was nice and pleasant the entire. She is a great asset for our IT department. Thank you, Cathy!
Ken Gutierrez, Career IT
We were having trouble with the MyVSU portal which had the potential to negatively impact a large group of our clients. Fortunately, Ken spent hours woking remotely to make sure that MyVSU's down-time was minimized. Thanks to his work, MyVSU was up and fully functional in no time at all! Thanks so much, Ken!
Maxwell Smith, IT
Maxwell was so kind to take a few minutes to help me troubleshoot a problem with my network cable on our first day in our new office. Even though it only took a few minutes, it was tremendously helpful. We were able to continue assisting students with minimal interruption to our services.
Casey Colson, Accounting
Casey Colson is extremely helpful to both our students and faculty. Recently, many of us have adopted Proctor U as a means of monitoring online testing. Casey was one of the early adopters and became an expert in Proctor U. While it is not a part of her job description, Casey nevertheless goes out of her way to help both students and faculty understand and successfully implement this technology. We are all very grateful for her service. Casey Colson, thank you!
Evan Creamer, IT Helpdesk
A new hire had trouble logging into the system. We contacted the IT Helpdesk, and Evan was very thorough in asking questions in order to understand the problem. He was on the phone with us for at least 20 minutes. He walked the student through step by step what needed to be done. Evan even gave suggestions on how to help future issues from arising. Evan is quite knowledgeable and informative. He has a positive and helpful demeanor for those in need of technical support.
Jody Hudnall, IT
A new hire came to my office having an issue logging into the system. With guidance from Jody he was able to log in and get set up in a timely manner. Even though Jody was "behind the scenes" his knowledge was very much appreciated in helping this student. Way to go Jody...You are Awesome!
Pepper Croft, IT
Our office was investigating the best route to increase student graduate participation in our Destination Survey. It would have been easier for her to just engage via email to accomplish this task, but she went out of her way to meet with my team and suggest strategies to ensure the best results. She also took her time even after the project was completed to follow up. She demonstrated the level of customer service that VSU is trying to encourage our entire campus to aspire to.
Carla Jordan, Career Opportunities
A student came to our office for a routine appointment. After a few moments it was clear that the student was in distress and actually considering withdrawing from the institution. After consoling the student, Carla then inquired as to the source of her distress. She then went out of her way to walk her through some steps to deal with the challenges by utilizing various campus departments. She emailed ahead to those departments to look out for this student. She also kept in touch with this student throughout the day, and that student came back to the office feeling more empowered and most importantly having established a positive relationship on campus. To my knowledge that correspondence still continues.
Courtney Stone, Procurement
I would like to thank Courtney for taking time out of her already busy schedule and helping the Bursary. She helped us with our bank run every day of Fee Payment Deadline even though she was swamped with her own duties. Thanks Courtney! I really appreciate you!
Herb Reinhard, Athletic Operations
Thank you for all the behind the scenes work you and your staff do to help make VSU shine. I went to see The Harlem Globetrotters for the first time and had a wonderful evening. Honey Coppage, VP - Academic Affairs
HR was in need of a form in order for a faculty member to be paid before the lockout period. It took almost a week for this paperwork to be signed with appropriate signatures. It came down to the wire, and Honey Coppage was notified about HR needing this form. She was instrumental in tracking this down and getting the paperwork to HR quickly so the faculty member could be paid on time.
Sherry Turner, eLearning
My first day on the job as one of VSU's new Instructional Designers also happened to be the first day of school for students (Spring 2019 semester). As one can imagine, I was hustling and bustling without a clue about the logistics of the hustling and bustling. Sherry, our administrative secretary, was proactive in our onboarding process - ensuring tickets to get me access to required systems had been put in a week before, etc. She took a few minutes to walk me to the appropriate parking near our offices. She printed out a map to show me where I needed to go to handle HR business, get my ID, get my parking sticker, and get a key for my office. She pulled much of the load those first few days by answering tickets and phone calls. Sherry was instrumental in my onboarding process at VSU. She never lost her cool, assisted in any way that she could, and set me off on a strong foot. I'm happy to be working with her and proud to have her smiling face and voice representing eLearning.
Alanna Lewis, Academic Support Center
Alanna went above and beyond by going with Brittany Smith, her boss, and myself to pick up surplus chairs that were being repurposed for the NMC. I appreciate her and the rest of the ASC group for assisting us with obtaining chair upgrades for our MAC Lab.
Dr. Uyeno, Biology
Dr. Uyeno, When you told me that you would do a directed study with me and take me under your wing in the Uyeno Biomechanics lab I had no idea what I was getting myself into. This semester has been full of so many great experiences and opportunities all because of your research lab. The knowledge that I have gained about histological technique makes me confident that I could walk into any lab, hospital, or clinic and apply for a job as a histologist. I am so thankful for the time you spent training me and observing my work. I learned how to manage my time, work independently, and problem solve throughout this semester. These skills will be useful as I continue my journey at VSU and in my career. Many students have no idea what it’s like to be in a lab with amazing technology, so I feel very blessed. The robots really made me think sometimes, but they made my life so much easier in the end. Directed study is special to me because you gave me the option to pick what I wanted to research and then gave me one on one learning from the beginning to the end. Having Adrienne to help me out and build a relationship with was awesome. Thank you for allowing me to be apart of the Uyeno biomechanics lab family, and I hope many other students get to have the same experience I had!
Tayler Lawhorn, Physics, Astronomy, and Geosciences
Tayler was extremely helpful with several issues I was having at the beginning of the semester. She is always friendly and ready to help.

Kristen Jowers, College of the Arts Advising Center
Since being appointed as the advisor for students in the Mass Media program, Kristen has been working to bring student records and advising recommendations up to date. In the two weeks around the start of school, Kristen personally saw 111 drops in visits and appointments or 52% of all students visiting the College advising center. With this workload, Kristen was a voice of reason when dealing with panicked students and parents while effectively putting out fires. Her actions are a demonstration of the University's commitment to students and improving retention.
Taylor Fulp, Auxiliary Services
Campus Mail Services found itself short by two staff members starting the new year, and we were not able to immediately rehire for those positions. Taylor was asked to assist us in the Student Mail Center until we were able to rectify the situation. He jumped in and has been so help and accommodating to whatever has been asked of him. He has a great personality and disposition when dealing with the students and the Campus Mail Staff. It will be hard to see his time with us end. But for now we say THANK YOU very much! Truly a blessing!

On several occassions I have contacted IT without a clue of the technology items I am trying to order. Adrian always responds pleasantly and assists me with getting exactly what I need. Without a doubt he is very knowledgable in what he does and goes above and beyond.
Yvonne Landers, VPFA & Budgeting Services
She was very helpful and nice while assisting me with my needs.
Sherry Turner, eLearning
I went to Sherry to get help with my business cards. She helped find the site, however the instructions weren't complete. She called additional staff from the website in order to get me my business cards. The best part is that she reasearched my information to be placed on the card. She took care of everything, and I’m very thankful.
Tina Wright, OSPRA
On numerous occasions Tina was immediately available to speak with me about IRB paperwork. She provided statement templates and kept me laughing while she did it. She is a pleasure to work with.

From the end of last semester to now, Marny's diligence to her job and her willingness to go out of her way to help the CAMP office has been exceptional. We appreciate having Marny as part of Valdosta State University and look forward to any future interactions with her and the VSU Bookstore.
Lori Oppel, Bookstore- Follett

She has helped CAMP by providing us with excellent customer service, being informative about the process of textbook purchases, and communicating action plans that benefit both the bookstore and the CAMP office. The CAMP staff are proud to have Lori as part of Valdosta State University, and we look forward to working with her in the future.
Dr. Deborah Marciano, College of Education and Human Services

Hunter Baxter, IT
Hunter is a life-saver! He solved a problem with ePro since it was not allowing me to approve a procurement for a license renewal. As budget manager, I was on a tight deadline to complete this transaction. I felt frustrated by this roadblock with the technology. Hunter answered my urgent call, patiently listened to me explain the situation, and then he followed up within the hour to report he rectified the problem in ePro. I am very grateful to Hunter for his kind affect and astute skill set.
Kyle Culpepper, New Media Center
Kyle goes above and beyond to help provide the fastest and most reliable service to the faculty and students when it comes to technology. For my student teaching portfolio, I am required to provide very specific video files and specs. Not only did Kyle go out of his way to provide the updated video files with a quick turn around, but he actually caught some of the mistakes I made when requesting certain edits. Thank you, Kyle, for your outstanding service and kindness!
Dr. Theresa Grove, Science & Math
A special thanks to Theresa Grove for going above and beyond to help out the College of the Art at the recent V-State events in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina. The COA was short-staffed, so Theresa (along with the admission staff) took the initiative to setup the COA table with our recruitment materials, banners, etc. Ryan Hogan sent a text to acknowledge her initiative and assistance! Many of the VSU personnel that travel for these events go above and beyond. This is just one example of the collegiality that is indicative of so many people at VSU. Thank you, Theresa!!
Sarah-Jane McNalley, Art & Design Dean's Office
Over the past several months, Sarah-Jane has worked closely with a number of offices across campus including Event Services, IT, Web Services, and Student Affairs in transitioning from R-25 to the new EMS Event Management System. She has been instrumental in the transition to the new VSU Master Calendar/MyVSU Calendar integration, and she is critical to the planning/logistics of a very complex College of the Arts Annual Master Calendar. Our sincere thanks to Sarah-Jane for her diligence in organizing a wide range of complex information, data, and systems. She is one of the few power experts of these new systems on campus, and she has been training others in the COA to use these systems efficiently and effectively as well. Her continued commitment to this work and improving these processes is very much appreciated, especially by the COA Dean's office.
Karen Rubin, COEHS Advising Center
Last semester I went into advising feeling more or less hopeless. I was returning to school after a year off and had been trying to medically expunge my record from 2016. I turned in written records to the Dean of Students over the summer but, unfortunately it was too late for approval. In advising, Karen gave me the tools I needed to late drop my classes so I could advance through obstacles. She talked me through multiple ideas for possible majors and turned my hopelessness into motivation and excitement. This was something I had yet to feel towards school. Last semester was a learning curve for me. I had been out of school for a while, and I had to reteach myself how to learn. Today, I needed words of encouragement. I've been stressed out with scholarships for the summer semester. I walked into her office without an appointment and she gave me a rock that said "It's already OK." She told me to carry it around until she could see me later this afternoon. Everything she has done for me has made such a difference in my motivation and confidence. She goes above and beyond for her students. She is truly a gem, and I am so thankful she is my adviser.
Ryan Hogan, Admissions
When it comes to campus tours for visiting students and families, the Admissions staff routinely go above and beyond. This is especially true when communicating with the departments and programs in our college. Ryan and Hilary have provided several special guests of the Department of Art & Design with personal tours of the campus and local community. Thanks to Ryan and Hilary for all they do each and every day in the Office of Admissions!
Hilary Willis, Admissions

This is especially true when communicating with the departments and programs in our college. Ryan and Hilary have provided several special guests of the Department of Art & Design with personal tours of the campus and local community. One of these visitors raved about their time (specifically with Hilary), saying "she was fantastic - sold me on this place." Thanks to Ryan and Hilary for all they do each and every day in the Office of Admissions!
Natalie Kuhlmann, College of Education and Human Services
Natalie took the time to share important updates and help support us during our EPP meeting. She spent additional time making sure everyone understood the requirements for our programs. Further, she created individualized handouts for each program and provided specific feedback for each coordinator. Her hard work is appreciated.
Abby Pruitt, New Media Center
Abby stepped up to the plate to help interpret for a hard of hearing student. She was exceptional with both the student as well as her fellow coworkers. I wanted to express how proud she made the New Media Center.
Sheila Hall, IT
I am so thankful that VSU has Sheila Hall in Information Technology. I had an issue with Cascade where I completely disabled all of my documents on the department’s web page. All of my document links stopped working, and I was distraught! Our department has hundreds of documents linked to the web site and to lose them would have been catastrophic for me. I was at a loss on what to do or who to reach out to for assistance. I remembered Sheila Hall does trainings so I immediately called her. Even though she wasn’t quite sure on how to help me initially, she reassured me that she would help me to resolve my issue. She was a life saver in helping me with this issue and went above and beyond her call of duty to help me. I appreciate her and wanted her to know it. Thank you, Sheila. You ROCK!
A'Shondee Kinlaw, Graduate School Admissions
I recently applied for the Doctor of Education in Leadership Program (Ed.D.) Fall 2019 term at VSU. A'Shondee has been attentive, knowledgeable, and patient through my application process. A'Shondee is quick to respond to inquiries, with clear communication and professionalism. I have worked for the Admissions Office at the University of Georgia for eight years. I understand the importance of a team that is mindful of student support and customer service during high-stress times. A'Shondee is an excellent representative for your team, your office, and the University.
JoAnn Allen, Custodial Services
Ever since JoAnn has joined the staff here at Centennial Hall, she has been nothing but smiles and hard work. Every day I've seen her she is working hard on the floors and the building to make sure it is spotless. I have not seen this building this clean since I began working here! She is always in a great mood and always greeting students and staff members with a smile. She works so hard for this building, and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about her. We need more JoAnns in this world.
Barrie Fitzgerald, Institutional Research
Barrie is just one of the many outstanding people in the Division of IT / Student Success / Institutional Research. Barrie assists the College of the Arts routinely, working diligently to assemble surveys, data/statistics, trends, etc., to assist and inform programs, departments and college offices. Recently, he assisted a COA search committee in creating and refining survey instruments; he attended numerous meetings over the course of several weeks, and was able to submit a comprehensive packet of invaluable assessment information in literally 24 hrs. Barrie embodies the spirit of collaboration, openness, action, and integrity. Thank you Barrie for all that you do with and for us in the COA, and for the many divisions on campus.
Maggie Vallotton, Art & Design Dean's Office
Maggie’s attitude in the office is a model for all. She always maintains a professional disposition; her personal demeanor is warm, inviting, welcoming, friendly and responsive to all faculty, staff, students, and COA patrons. During a recent Valdosta Symphony Orchestra event, Maggie worked long weekend hours responding patiently and professionally to patrons, managing a high volume of calls, inquiries, and questions prior to and leading up to the event. She was seen picking up the parking lot on a Saturday afternoon, making sure the building and the surrounding areas looked their best for the guests attending the event that evening. This is not an isolated occurrence; she works diligently on the weekends during many events for the COA and always delivers with a smile and can-do attitude. We certainly appreciate her commitment to the COA, and all that she does for the campus and local community each and every day.
Garrett Castleman, New Media Center

He also helped us tremendously in showing us all of the editing skills we needed to complete the project.

Mr. Jeff is an exceptional worker. I regularly run into him in the hallway. He always has a smile on his face and makes sure to greet me. The third floor is always in great shape thanks to Jeff and his co-workers.
Sydney Land, Event Services
I went to pick up my event contracts, and two out of the four were ready right before closing. Despite the time of day, Sydney took the time to approve the last two event contracts. She even helped double check one of the contracts that I had made a mistake on. Her willingness to help and friendly attitude was much appreciated.
Donna Jones, Library
I use electronic course reserves in my history classes. These are scanned and posted through the library. When there were some technical problems, Donna Jones fixed the problem cheerfully and diligently. She even said that students could come to her personally for access to the articles while the problem was being fixed. That was beyond the call of duty! Because of her help, what could have been a big problem for students was quickly resolved. Donna Jones is always friendly and is a great example of the services that the library provides to students. Using course reserves for assigned readings is a good way to cut student textbook costs, so her work is really valuable.
Jennifer Griffin, Bursary
She has been invaluable to me in walking me through every loan application process. Every time she is very conscientious about instructions and any necessary follow-up contacts. I appreciated his sense of humor and his willingness to jump into this and help. On behalf of the Council on Undergraduate Research, I can't thank Chris enough for his help in making the Symposium a success.
Dr. John Dunn, History
Dr. Dunn is a wonderful, kind, and considerate professor. He truly believes in students being able to access affordable texts and documents for his classes. He also makes you feel like an old friend, no matter what kind of day he's had. He always speaks to us in a kind tone and helps us with any questions we have. Dr. Dunn uses research articles and primary sources through JSTOR to help students in his class save on text costs, which means a lot to me! He also brought us Polish candy, which we loved. Dr. Dunn shared a souvenir pen from Japan with me which I found so considerate. He is the type of professor who would give you the last piece of paper he had if it meant that you would succeed. He is truly one of a kind and an irreplaceable asset to VSU.

As a result, he improved our ability to work and continues to check in to be sure the matter is better. While the entire problem has not yet disappeared, Alfred and the engineers continue to be on top of what we need. Thank you for your hard work.
John Evan Fondren, Student Life
I asked Evan if he could place a flyer on the digital screens in the Student Union for an event that would take place at the end of the week. I was not aware of the rule that states flyers should be submitted a week prior to the week of the event. Evan responded to our needs and almost immediately had the flyer placed in rotation on the Student Union's digital screens. Blazin Love 5k is an important fundraiser for the VSU Cross Country teams. We are thankful that Evan took immediate action to get the word out to VSU students and possibly increased the number of participants in this VSU event.
Michelle Blankenship, School of Nursing
A group of 30 Echols County High students with an interest in health professions were scheduled to tour SGRMC this afternoon as part of an all day field trip. Due to a high incidence of flu patients, the hospital had to cancel the tour. When the guidance counselor who was heading up the field trip reached out to my office this morning to see if there was anything we could offer today at noon, Michelle Blankenship did not hesitate to agree to facilitate a tour of our sim labs. We accommodated the group and we’re pleased to hear the students all thought this was the "best part of their day."

Shakeanah always provides service with a bright smile. She’s always willing to go the extra mile to help students, faculty, and staff with their library questions. In addition, she encourages others to go the extra mile as well. Shakeanah’s willingness to help with our Department’s social media has been greatly appreciated! Her constructive feedback allows our posts to be better and we’ve seen great improvements in our outreach. Thank you, Shakeanah!
Christopher Brown, Bursary
I want to thank Chris for his willingness to always prioritize working with me to prepare and review our budget. Thank you Chris for always being supportive and having an enthusiastic attitutde. You are an example of VSU's motto!
Clinton Cauley, IT
Clinton was one of the first friendly faces I had the pleasure of meeting when hired at VSU, and he has continued to be an important contact for myself and all of us at eLearning. He is quick to respond to every message, email, and phone call. If he isn't sure of the answer, which is rare, he works diligently to ensure an answer is found. He is flexible, brilliant, proactive, and always on his game. eLearning is grateful!
Honey Coppage, VP - Academic Affairs
Honey is a life-saver. I emailed her at the end of a long work day with a plea for help with a budget management issue that required immediate attention and creative problem-solving since it impacted personnel. Due to work obligations that I could not reschedule, I knew I wouldn't be able to even attempt to address this issue until the following afternoon, but that delay would've be problematic. Honey took action swiftly, came up with an innovative idea, and by late morning the next day resolved this challenge that had many bureaucratic hurdles. Thank you, Honey!
Wes Duke, IT
Wes is always so helpful to classroom support! Today we were having an issue with imaging our lab machines to replace a computer lab in Nevins Hall. The antivirus software was shutting down a software installation that is integral to the function of lab machines. Wes identified that there was a problem with the antivirus server and was able to connect us to the right people to get the problem solved! We so appreciate Wes' willingness to help us solve these kinds of problems!
Carla Gervin, LCOBA
A student needed help getting ready for our community banking symposium. Carla Gervin, without being asked, went to extraordinary lengths to make sure the student was ready. It was only by chance that I was made aware of this good deed. This is only one example of the extra mile she is willing to go for our students. Thank you, Carla!
Jeremy Hardin, New Media Center
I called Jeremy to ask for his help with printing some invitations for an upcoming event. Once I arrived at the New Media Center, Jeremy went above and beyond by making sure the document lined up and printed correctly. He then emailed me the corrected document. To say he gave exceptional service is an understatement. There are people who genuinely have a heart for helping others, and Jeremy is one of those individuals. Thanks, Jeremy!
Lydia Harvey, Athletics
Lydia helped us set up the sound system for Campus Recreation Champ Night. We had over 250 students and the event was a huge success. Lydia greatly improved the student experience for those who came to this event.
Michael Johns, IT
Michael, as always, made time with no notice to assist in alpha testing and troubleshooting of the data extract process which will be used for the new Student Debt Letter. The letter is a key part of the Chancellor's Know More, Borrow Less initiative. Thank you for your help.
Shanta Johnson, Library
Shanta went above and beyond to help a community patron who did not have a lot of experience using the computer. Even though there were other factors that made helping this patron a challenge, Shanta maintained a positive attitude as she provided assistance.
Shanta Johnson, Library
Shanta always provides exceptional service for our students, staff, and faculty who need assistance with printers and library resources or have reference questions. However, Shanta has gone beyond the call of duty in assisting our Department’s social media efforts. Her willingness to always listen to post ideas and evaluate potential posts is greatly appreciated. She contributes great ideas and has done so much to make our social media posts successful. Thank you, Shanta!
Dr. Hanae Kanno, Department of Social Work
Thank you so much Dr. Kanno for always being understanding! You are very attentive and always willing to be helpful. I can't express enough how appreciative I am to have you as one of my professors!
Yvonne Landers, VPFA & Budgeting Services
She helped me quickly get in touch with people I needed to contact for important paperwork. She helped ease a hectic time.
Mallory Lane, School of Nursing
On Wednesday March 6, 2019, I had an event scheduled for a group of students to help them with recognizing cardiac rhythms. I was thinking that I was going to have to cancel the event when my husband became extremely ill. Mallory Lane agreed to help with the event so that it would not have to be cancelled. Her concern for the success of the students and her willingness to help out a fellow faculty member shows her caring nature. I would like to thank Mallory for her help.
Dr. Karen Rubin, COEHS Advising Center
Dr. Rubin put forth great efforts to help me graduate. I don't think she fully knows my history, but the last twelve years have been hurdle after hurdle to earn my bachelors degree. Aside from changing majors several times, I have moved more times than I remember due to my husband being a pilot in the military. I also took off a few years to care for my father before he passed from cancer. Having my daughter, and currently being pregnant also added to my challenges. All these events, both wonderful and tragic, have made it difficult for me to stay motivated. Dr. Rubin took me under her wing and just made things happen. I just can't believe she invested so much time into one student. She continued to contact me until all the necessary information was gathered, and just made things happen! I know that she is the reason I will FINALLY graduate and accomplish my goals, and there are no amount of words to properly thank her. She is a wonderful person, and I am forever grateful.
Dr. Michael Sanger, Department of Social Work
I was alone in a break room when Dr. Sanger spotted me and asked why I was sitting alone. I began to tell him what a horrible week I was having, and instead of lecturing me about class he listened to me. He did not judge me or raise concerns about my performance in the program. He simply listened. Thanks Dr. Sanger.
Barbara Scott, Custodial Services
We are so thankful to have Ms. Barbara Scott in the Athletic Field House. Everyday when we walk into the building the floors, doors, and windows are spotless. The aroma of cleanliness is evident! It is so nice to walk in and be proud to show off the building to recruits and their families or just to visitors. We haven't had this in a long time. Thank you again Ms. Barbara.
Patrick Smith, Building Maintenance
He went above and beyond to help me get a machine up and running! He was very helpful and full of knowledge!
Dwayne Trouille, IT
My car wouldn't start, and because I live an hour away I had no one in town that could help me. Mr. Trouille overheard me asking for help, and he went above and beyond to help jump off my car. There's no doubt that I would have spent an hour or two trying to find help if Mr. Trouille hadn't walked in at the right time. I really appreciated it.
Julian Vickers, Financial Aid
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your quick response in assisting me today. Without your help, I would not have been able to continue with my driver improvement class. I was reduced to using a laptop screen to teach a class and the speakers were just not enough to fill the room with audio. Your immediate action allowed me to continue with the class and finish it on time. Your response was immediate, and you even disconnected the speakers from your own office computer. I am very grateful for your selfless response to my needs in the service to our VSU community. The action I saw and experienced today simply cannot be taught.
Jenny White, VPFA & Budgeting Services
Jenny is constantly assisting and supporting not only myself, but several individuals and offices all across campus with their budgetary questions and duties. Despite what I am certain is already a huge workload, Jenny is always happy to offer assistance with kindness and efficiency. On my most recent visit to the UC for an unrelated matter, she was able to accommodate a meeting with a few minutes notice just so that I could pick her brain about some best practices. Jenny is truly a wealth of knowledge and experience, and VSU is lucky to have someone as judicious as her.
Catherine Wills, Human Resources
She went above and beyond in helping me access very important paperwork I needed to fill out. She was very patient and very helpful.
Dr. John Wright, Student Life
Dr. Wright provided staff to help make the Campus Recreation Champ night an amazing event for students. Support like this greatly helps with retention and made the event great for the over 250 students that attended. Thank you, John.
Holly Wright, Counseling Center
Holly Wright was able to bring a new and innovative mental wellness program called Fresh Check Day to campus. She and the Counseling Center staff brought together campus partners to provide this interactive day for students to learn healthy ways to develop and maintain mental wellness. Due to the joint marketing efforts and promotion, the program had 241 students participate in this new program. I thank Holly and the Counseling Center staff for all their efforts in supporting and investing in the development of our student body.
Joynae Whitehurst, Event Services
Ms. Joy as well as the other young men and women who work for event services always go above and beyond to be of help. I called ES Wednesday morning after I received an email about additional needs by my director for setup at events that were happening that day. Ms. Joy was able to, with the help of the other ES staff, get me taken care of. Later in the day when I encountered a brief problem at the UC, Joy and the ES staff were again there to save the day. It is really a pleasure working with such helpful and accommodating staff.

Jamie stepped in while the eLearning staff was trying to solve a course merger issue. She was so patient, helpful and effective. Things worked out better than I could have imagined.
Morgan Clawson, Center for eLearning
Morgan Clawson from eLearning was so creative and helpful. In the middle of a last-minute crisis, she helped us to come up with a creative temporary solution, while we had to wait for the person in charge could resolve the issue. Kudos to Morgan for her work attitude!
Michael Anderson, IT
Thank you, Michael, for helping me with my new computer. I purchased a new system when my old one was destroyed by lightning, just two days into the Summer semester as I was teaching online. A bug in Outlook prevented me from full access to this app and I even had a Microsoft tech helping me. Michael must have written to me several times over several days trying everything in his power to help, and in the end, what worked was his very first suggestion! I must have driven him crazy, but he stuck with me until everything was back to normal. Talk about above and beyond, thank you, Michael!
Loanne Liu, Admissions
I contacted Loanne for assistance during our registration session during orientation. She was on a call and we missed each other. Loanne followed up very promptly via text apologizing for missing my call and ensuring that my problem was resolved. I was very impressed with her customer service and determination to see the process through.
Steve Fesler, Plant Operations
Steve hung about 10 framed pictures on our walls and in our offices-they look beautiful and he did such a careful and professional job. He's got an eye for what looks good, and I thank him in my head every time I come into work and see the wall art. Steve's done a lot of little things for our office, and we appreciate his patience with us.
Dr. Sonja Wright-Smith, Access Center
I enjoyed the Moving AHEAD Conference and being on the beautiful campus of Valdosta State University. What an honor to have the president of VSU welcome everyone. It was an honor for the President of VSU to share with us his relationship with Disability Services. The conference was great networking experience, and the speakers were carefully selected. It was awesome meeting Miss Deaf USA. The session topics were much needed, and the speakers were very knowledgeable in their field of expertise. The staff was both courteous and knowledgeable. The food was awesome and I loved the snacks. Job well done and thanks again for such a great conference. Dr. Wright-Smith assisted with a hearing impaired issue. She is very knowledgeable and informative in her expertise in disabilities. Thanks, Dr. Wright-Smith for all you do in assisting and caring for others!
Jenny White, VPFA & Budgeting Services
Jenny has been amazing helping us stay within budget and helping Campus Recreation continue to meet budget goals. She works very hard to assist us and I call her several times a week. Jenny is amazing.
Heather Craft, Accounting & Procurement
Heather was amazing. She helped us get everything in place to purchase new cardio equipment for the Student Recreation Center. She worked very hard to get all the paperwork in and formatted correctly enabling us to better serve students. This new equipment will serve thousands of students helping the University reach it's retention goals. Thank you, Heather. Our students and our team here at Campus Recreation are grateful for your help.
Gary Thomas, Central Warehouse
On 6/20/2019, an employee was working in the University Center and became unconscious after being injured. Gary Thomas acted swiftly and notified someone to contact Emergency Medical Services. He answered questions and assisted where needed. Because of his efforts, the employee is home recovering. I feel that Gary should receive recognition for his efforts in helping a fellow employee.
Regina Lee, Human Resources
On 6/20/2019, an employee was working in the University Center and became unconscious after being injured. Regina Lee acted swiftly and contacted Emergency Medical Services. Because of her efforts, the employee is home recovering. I feel that Regina should receive recognition for her efforts in helping a fellow employee.
Jason Brown, Communication Arts, Mass Media
Jason has been a great team player for the Mass Media program and the Communication Arts Department. He is always willing to help out a colleague, the Mass Media faculty, and, most importantly, the students. If ever I need help with anything, I know that Jason will be more than happy to do what he can. I am thankful that he is part of our faculty and our team.
Suzanne Ewing, Continuing Education
Suzanne is always so kind and accommodating. She goes above and beyond to make Continuing Education programs available and open to the community. She is truly an asset.
Kyle Culpepper, New Media Center
Mr. Kyle was very professional and his work ethic is through the roof. He helps me with his knowledge of the Adobe Suites and other computer programs.
Annjannette Atkins, Creative Services
Anjie helped our team update the directory profile on our web page. Anjie was able to make the connection between changes made in Cascade and publish them to the live website. Anjie also gave us more insight about creating a default directory profile for staff members with multiple directory listings. Anjie was quick to identify the problem and swiftly bridged the gap in our knowledge. Anjie, thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot!
