Third-Party Integrations
Third-Party Tool Integrations in BlazeVIEW
What Is a Third-Party Integration?
Third-party integrations in BlazeVIEW enhance the learning experience by connecting external tools and resources directly within the course environment. These integrations allow instructors to streamline access to digital textbooks, interactive content, assessments, and multimedia tools without requiring separate logins or platforms. They also enable automated grade syncing, real-time feedback, and greater engagement through diverse learning activities.
How Do I Request a New Integration?
To request a new third-party integration in BlazeVIEW, complete the Third-Party Integration Request Form. Once submitted, we will review your request and respond within 5 business days with information about next steps.
How Are Integration Requests Evaluated?
Requests are evaluated based on several criteria:
- Affordability and student access
- Impact and redundancy with existing tools
- Technical compatibility with BlazeVIEW (LTI Advantage v. 1.3 required)
- Data security and FERPA compliance
- Accessibility, including Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 standards
- Functionality, especially regarding compatibility with assistive technologies
- Licensing structure, including how costs are distributed across departments or courses
How Long Does Integration Take?
The timeline for integrating a new tool into BlazeVIEW depends on several factors:
- Vendor Responsiveness. Vendors must complete a Third-Party Questionnaire reviewed by USG ITS, USG Cybersecurity, and VSU Cybersecurity. Delays in vendor responses can significantly extend the timeline.
- USG ITS Approval. All integrations must be approved by the University System of Georgia (USG). If a tool is already approved, this step is quick and straightforward. If not, the vetting process can take weeks or months, depending on the vendor's responsiveness.
- Sensitive Data and Financial Information. Tools that handle FERPA-protected or financial data require additional review and approval by Cybersecurity. This process is highly dependent on the vendor’s willingness to meet VSU’s data protection standards.
Which Tools Are Already Integrated with BlazeVIEW?
The following is a list of currently supported third-party integrations in BlazeVIEW. This list includes:
- Tool descriptions
- Instructions for integration with BlazeVIEW (D2L)
- Links to help materials and vendor support resources
Who Provides Support for Third-Party Integrations?
Support for third-party tools is typically provided by the vendor or company that created the tool. While VSU may offer centralized support for some integrations, usually your first point of contact should be the vendor. Visit our list of integrated tools to find the best support options for each.
