Collections & Holdings
The University Library strives to acquire and purchase access to library materials in multiple formats to support Valdosta State University's undergraduate and graduate academic programs and the research and teaching needs of its faculty, staff, and students. The Acquisitions and Cataloging staff work together to oversee the ordering, processing, and removal of materials in the Library collection. Journals Collection
The Current Journals Reading Room is located on the first floor across from the Internet Café. The most currently received issue of journals, magazines, and newspapers are arranged alphabetically by title on a two-tiered up tilt display shelf. More recently received issues of the same title can be found underneath on the second shelf by raising the up-tilt display shelf. Once bound, journal titles starting with the letters "A" through "Z" can be found on the 1st floor. (Library maps)

Movies and Music
In support of curricular needs, Odum Library has a long standing tradition of collecting non-print mediums, video recordings on Tape, DVD, Streaming (online), sound recordings as on vinyl, cassette tape, and now CD or AUDIOCD, as well as other kinds of audiovisual materials. All of these materials, movies, music, or other audiovisual items are in the GIL@VSU Library Catalog. To Search for Videos Including Streaming Videos in the GIL-Find@VSU Catalog
- Select "Advanced Search" in the GIL-Find@VSU Catalog
- For Videos, select "Audio Visual" in the Format Menu, type in a search term and select the "Find" Button

To Search for Musical Sound Recordings including Vinyl records, tape cassettes, and CD's
- Select "Advanced Search" in the GIL-Find@VSU Catalog
- Select "Audio Visual" in the Format Menu and type in a search term to look for.
- Once you have your search results, you can either select the "Circulation Desk - 2nd Floor - (Fine Arts Materials Collection) ", "Instructional Materials Collection", or other relevant area in the Location Menu to limit to those respective collections

- Consider recommending a Library purchase if you didn't find the needed title
- Finally there is ILL - Odum Express, but most libraries do not loan their audiovisual titles.

Fine Arts Materials Collection (FAMC)
The Fine Arts Materials Collection (FAMC) supports the curriculum and research of the College of the Arts which includes the Departments of Art, Communication Arts, and Music. The FAMC music CD's, cassette tapes & vinyl records and movie video recordings can be requested for borrowing at the 2nd floor Circulation Desk. Art reproductions are located in the art case housed on 1st floor. FAMC scores and scripts are located in room 1617 on the 1st floor of the library.
The FAMC Listening Lab services are available from Media Services on 1st floor during.

Holdings
The University Library contains over 513,000 bound volumes, including 3,300 current periodicals and newspapers and a microform collection of over a 300,000 units. The library has access to over 100 electronic periodical and resources indexes (many with full text), almost 4,000 electronic journals, and about 120,000 electronic books. Additionally, the Library is a Federal Document Selective Depository and holds more than 42,000 U.S. government documents, approximately 10,000 Georgia state documents, with electronic access to many additional titles.
