Curator, Baldwin Library of Historical Children’s Literature-University of Florida

The Curator of the Baldwin Library of Historical Children’s Literature is a year-round (12 month) tenure track library faculty position, which will lead a preeminent collection known for its exceptional breadth and depth in Anglo-American holdings. The Baldwin Library supports emerging scholarship by actively diversifying its holdings and applying a critical lens to collections and activities. The Curator oversees major endowment funds supporting collection development and programming, including speaker series and research fellowships.

The Curator manages materials and access, from acquisition to cataloging and digitization, and engages the UF campus and beyond through instruction, exhibits, collection promotion, and collaboration on projects and work groups. The Curator deepens and expands support for the study of children’s literature and interdisciplinary topics, and engages with faculty, students, and the Center for Children’s Literature and Culture. The Curator oversees fellowship programs which support the research of scholars, librarians and educators in the Baldwin Library, and serves as a bridge between public and academic librarians through the Louise Seaman Bechtel Fellowship.

The Affordable Learning Librarian will work collaboratively with teaching faculty, library staff, and other campus partners to promote the adoption of open and affordable learning materials and provide students and instructors with seamless access to library collections and course readings.  The Affordable Learning Librarian will be excited about the future of classroom affordability and the role libraries play in promoting equitable and fair access to course materials. This role will report to the Head of Technical Services and participate in a collaborative content acquisition and management operations, which includes acquisitions, cataloging, interlibrary loan, reserves, and electronic resources. 

 

This is a 12-month faculty position with an effort distribution of 80% librarianship, 10% scholarship, and 10% professional service to the library profession.  Up to two (2) years credit for previous professional experience may be given at the time of employment, in which case such credit will be stated in the offer letter. The Georgia Tech Library Faculty may enjoy flexible work schedules, professional development, and a healthy work-life balance. This is not a remote position, but some teleworking hours is supported.

This is a benefits-eligible position with a minimum salary of $67,498, commensurate with education and experience. 

 

Job Responsibilities   

Provide and improve library services and resources; enrich the research, learning, and scholarship of the Georgia Tech community through the following: 

  • Serve as subject matter expert for the reserves and course reading list service. 
  • Implement and administer course reading list tool(s).  
  • Collaborate with teaching faculty and instructional designers to integrate library-sourced instructional materials into Canvas, the Learning Management System (LMS), and other course settings. 
  • Design workflows, plans service enhancements, train instructors/teaching faculty, resolve access and/or configuration problems for the library-sourced materials ensuring fair use compliance; manage and update communications on Course Reserves; and conduct inhouse workshops for library employees as needed. 
  • Conducts regular assessments of the course reserves service and workflows and implements new projects or services enhancements. 
  • Collaborates with Technical Services Librarians and other Library colleagues to ensure a unified strategy for resource acquisition, discovery, delivery, and integration of scholarly resources.
  • Participates in affordable educations discussions with local, state, and national efforts including, but not limited to Affordable Learning Georgia.

Librarian I

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Library experience in at least one of the following areas:  electronic reserves, acquisitions, electronic resources, or document delivery in an integrated library system (ILS).
  • Knowledge of practices, issues, and trends in OER, open textbooks, open licensing, and fair use.
  • Understanding of license terms and digital rights management (DRM), copyright, and fair use of library electronic resources.
  • Experience developing and delivering effective training for faculty and librarian colleagues.

Emory Libraries Summer Internship Program (3 PAID positions available)

Emory Libraries is now accepting applications for three distinct summer internships within its Access and Resources Services Division for Summer 2024. The Internships are open to current MLIS students and recent graduates of ALA-accredited Library and Information Science degree programs, pre-program and current graduate conservation degree programs, and graduate students with an interest in librarianship. These internships are designed to give hands-on experience in an academic library setting. 

The Access and Resource Services Division is responsible for the acquisition, description, circulation, delivery, preservation, and digitization of library resources in all formats. The ten-week paid summer internships are for individuals from underrepresented communities with demonstrated interest in librarianship, resource sharing, course reserves, cataloging, and conservation. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in professional-level projects with independence and creativity, learn from experienced professionals, network with local librarians and conservators, as well as build community with members of the intern cohort.
