Welcome to the Department of Art

The Department of Art offers four comprehensive undergraduate degree programs and opportunities designed to prepare students for professional involvement in a 21st century environment. In addition to traditional studio programs such as Drawing, Painting, Ceramics and Sculpture, the Department also offers instruction in Photography (traditional & digital), Art Education, Interior Design, Art History, and electronic media such as Animation, Graphic Design and Web Design. Twenty-three dedicated art faculty-mentors provide a dynamic and challenging learning experience to over 230 undergraduate majors in the department. Studio facilities, equipment & technologies are constantly upgraded, affording our students the most current experiences in the classroom and studio environment. Dan Keplinger - Visitng Artist

Dan “King Gimp” Keplinger is a nationally recognized artist with cerebral palsy. He has earned two bachelors degrees, an MFA, and has won an Oscar for his 1999 documentary about his life. Dan gives lectures around the United States as well as internationally at places such as: The United Nations, University of Maryland, Kennesaw State University, Tyler School of Art,
and Johns Hopkins University. There will be a viewing of Dan’s film in the Student Union and he will be making prints in the VSU Printmaking Lab at the University Center. Come check him out! http://www.kinggimp.com

DrawProject 2014

The DRAWPROJECT is a VSU Department of Art exhibition and fundraising event hosted each year by our friends at the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts. Money raised from this event supports scholarships that assist Valdosta State University Art students. The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts Scholarship is awarded annually to support a VSU junior art, design, or art education major for meritorious production in the classroom or studio, and a commitment to service within the community.
