An internship in the Master of Public Administration Program involves field placement with an appropriate agency, normally a unit of government or a not-for-profit organization, which is designed to provide the student with a first-hand work experience in which the student is expected to apply his or her academic knowledge. Students are required to work 300 hours as a participant-observer gaining experience in areas such as program development, evaluation strategies, budgeting, process mapping, report preparation, or general administrative activities.
