The Leader at Every Level Mentorship program is coordinated through the Office of Human Resources and its’ mission is to facilitate growth opportunities at every level within the University through peer to peer staff development. The program will encourage an atmosphere conducive to learning and exploring new ideas, perspectives, processes, and best practices of the VSU community.

New staff will be atuomatically paired with an experienced VSU mentor. Each mentor and mentee relationship is unique! Communicate openly with your mentor to facilitate your conversations to be as beneficial as possible. 

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

  • Available to all new employees as part of departmental orientation
  • Available to any current VSU staff employee for support and assistance
  • Designed to be a six-month formal program for each new employee. However, the mentoring relationship can continue beyond six months, if desired by mentee and mentor.
  • Supervisors are requested to allow and encourage participation
  • The mentoring relationship does not replace the supervisor’s responsibility for orientation and training
  • Mentor/Mentee confidentiality

PROGRAM GOALS

  • Ensure timely integration of new employees into the organization
  • Increase employee retention and organizational knowledge
  • Provide insight, innovation, and recommendations on the culture and University/community resources
  • Increase professional and personal development for both mentor and mentee
