Career Opportunities Hosts The Encounter Aug. 31

VALDOSTA — The Office of Career Opportunities at Valdosta State University will host The Encounter from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, in the University Center Magnolia Room.

The Encounter is a career fair event for current students and alumni who are interested in cooperative education and internship experiences, as well as part-time, temporary, and seasonal employment. All those who plan to attend should dress professionally, arrive early, and bring several copies of their resume.

The Encounter features professional representatives from the health care information technology, restaurant, retail, chemical manufacturing, hospitality, distribution and supply chain, tax preparation, food service, nonprofit, theme park, and social services career fields. More employers will be added to the list between now and the day of the event.

Throughout the fall semester, Career Opportunities will host several special events — Fall Career Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27; Graduate Schools Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3; and Education Career Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17. Each event will be held in the University Center Magnolia Room.

“All of the fairs are a great opportunity for students and alumni to establish and/or maintain relationships with employers,” said DeLois Hargett, employer relations coordinator with Career Opportunities. “We wish to do an exemplary job for both students and alumni and simply want to help both ignite their journey with Career Opportunities.”
