The mission of Faculty Scholarship is to help fund VSU Full-Time faculty to present papers at regional, national, and/or international academic conferences, to attend meetings and workshops which focus on curriculum development and instructional improvement activities.

The intent of this funding is to enhance VSU’s visibility within the broader academic community. This increased visibility will aid in attracting and retaining qualified faculty as well as drive essential improvements in faculty instruction, research, student guidance, and counseling. Faculty development funding serves as a supplementary financial resource to support faculty members.

Faculty Scholarship offers several types of funding opportunities, including Professional Presentation, Course/Curriculum Development, and Instructional Improvement. Each category has its own specific requirements and guidelines. To strengthen the potential for funding approval, applicants are strongly encouraged to thoroughly review the criteria and guidelines for each scholarship category prior to submission.

Please Note:

  • Funds are limited and may be depleted early in the academic year; therefore, it is advisable to submit a strong proposal as early as possible.
  • Proposals that are incomplete or do not meet the stated requirements—such as unanswered application questions or missing supporting documentation—will not be considered. Applicants may submit a new proposal during the next application cycle for reconsideration.
  • Applications are date-stamped upon receipt, and if approved, funding is awarded in the order in which applications are received.
  • The maximum amount faculty may receive per fiscal year across all three Faculty Scholarships (Professional Presentation, Instructional Improvement, and Course/Curriculum Development) is $1,000.
  • Proposals submitted AFTER travel will NOT be accepted. No Exceptions.
