Admissions

  • To enroll in eCore classes, you must be accepted as a student at Valdosta State University (VSU) .
  • To apply for admission or to obtain additional admission information, please contact the Admissions Office. Be sure to state that you are interested in enrolling in eCore courses.
  • Admission deadlines ARE different from those of traditional, on-campus students to allow for set up of GeorgiaVIEW accounts, etc.
  • Transient Students:
    • If you are currently attending a college or university other than VSU, you have the option of applying for admissions as a transient student. As a transient student, your grades for the eCore class will be sent to your home institution at the end of the semester.
    • Inform Admissions of your intent to take eCore so that you are properly processed!
  • Readmission:

  • Contact the Financial Aid Office for assistance with determining your aid eligibility, application procedures and additional information.
    • Regardless of whether you are taking eCore courses as a transient student, a transfer student or as a new student, you may use financial aid to pay for eCore® courses just as you would with traditional campus classes.
  • Textbooks
    • If finanical aid is your only means of eCore textbook and labkit payment, the VSU Bookstore may be able to special order eCore books and labkits for you (which you can pay for with financial aid). Contact the VSU Bookstore for assistance. Be sure to contact the VSU Bookstore ASAP if you will utilize this method, as there may be a delay in receiving your materials when late ordering.
    • At this time, financial aid cannot be used to purchase eCore textbooks or lab kits from MBS Direct Bookstore.

Tuition & Fees

  • The tuition for eCore® is $189 per credit hour (Check with the Bursary for fee payment dealines).
  • Taking traditional VSU classes (face-to-face or online)? Additional fees may apply. To learn more about taking a VSU course online, see the VSU Online webpage.
    • Your bill will include all of the courses in addition to any mandatory fees.
  • Textbooks and special course materials are NOT included as part of your tuition.
  • Proctored exam fees are NOT included as part of your tuition. See the VSU Proctored Exams or USG Exams and Testing webpages for more details. The VSU Office of Testing is an approved testing site.
  • Financial Aid

Advising requirements

  • Advising is mandatory for all VSU students, including eCore students. Be sure to consult with your academic advisor to complete this requirement and have your flag lifted before registering for any eCore classes.
    • Have a declared a major? If so, you will be assigned an advisor from within the department of your major. Please contact the department to inquire who your advisor is.
    • Undeclared? The Admissions department (229.333.5791) completes advising for undeclared and exploratory students. Please contact the office, let them know you are undeclared and would like to take eCore courses and they will direct you to an available advisor.
    • Transient?  The Admissions department (229.333.5791) completes advising for transient students.  Please contact the office, let them know you are a transient student and would like to take eCore courses and they will direct you to an available advisor.
    • Learning Support? MUST be advised and have approval from their Learning Support Advisor BEFORE registering for eCore classes. Dr. Beverly Blake is the Assistant Director of Academic Support and is a Learning Support Advisor. Her contact information is: 229.245.4378 or brblake@valdosta.edu

Registration

  • If you need assistance or someone to walk you through the registration process, please contact VSU eCore at 229-245-6490.

  • All new eCore students MUST successfully complete the Online Orientation Quiz before registering.
  • You will need to access your VSU Windows Live email account (ending in @valdosta.edu) for updates concerning eCore. See the Windows Live Tutorials webpage for assistance.

Accessing schedules

  • Once you have completed your registration, you will see your eCore classes listed in Banner just as if they were traditional courses.* In addition, course offerings are listed on the Banner Registration page: for example, "Spring 11 Online". You may also view class offerings at the eCore course offerings website.
    • Please allow 48 hours AFTER registering for eCore classes for Banner to display your complete schedule, including eCore courses.

Textbooks & Bookstores

  • Textbooks and other materials are important components of eCore courses! Here is a listing of required textbooks with ISBNs.
  • Ordering
    • Please order early enough to ensure your texts arrive for the beginning of each term.
    • VSU Bookstore
      • Texts and lab kits for eCore are not readily available at the VSU Bookstore. If financial aid is your only means of payment, the VSU Bookstore may be able to special order some eCore books and lab kits for you (which you can pay for with financial aid in person). Contact the VSU Bookstore ASAP if you will utilize this method, as there may be a delay in receiving your materials when late ordering. The bookstore does accept financial aid payment over the phone. You must be there in person to purchase.
    • MBS Direct Bookstore
      • Offers textbooks and course materials that you will need for eCore classes. You may order online or by calling (706) 369-7399. Be sure to mention that you are an eCore student.
