Welcome from Our Department Head

Welcome to the Political Science website. We are glad you have an interest in examining what our department has to offer. You can find information here about our two undergraduate degree programs: The Bachelor of the Arts in Political Science and The Bachelor of the Arts in Legal Assistant Studies. In addition, students may select a Minor in Political Science, Legal Assistant Studies, or Public Administration. On the graduate level, the department provides both the Master of Public Administration (MPA) and the Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) Degrees.

Faculty members possess a range of specializations as well as backgrounds. Drs. Bartholomew and Pufong offer valuable courses in paralegal studies, public and constitutional law. Drs. Baun, Glen and Harding provide courses in the comparative and international areas of political science. Drs. LaPlant and Saeger deliver exciting courses on various topics in American Politics. Drs. Allen, Yehl, and Bamfo instruct core courses in political science and public administration on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Also, many other faculty members instruct a variety of basic courses in the core curriculum.

Our department prides itself on the international background and experiences of our faculty. Dr. Bamfo is originally from Ghana, Dr. Pufong' s origins are from Cameroon but he grew up in Canada and the United States and Dr. Glen is from Scotland. Dr. Baun and Dr. Pufong studied abroad in France with students in our department. Dr. Bamfo studied in abroad in England. Also, the State Department Grant allows more than half the faculty to instruct at Palacky University in the Czech Republic. Dr. Harding has presented research in Canada, the UK, Portugal, Germany, and Austria, and has led student study abroad experiences to Argentina, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, and Uruguay.

Individual courses reflect the interests and experiences of our faculty members. Students can obtain a solid liberal arts education with a specialization of their own within the field. The department can help open doors to careers and higher educational opportunities for students who possess the motivation and drive. I would like to extend an invitation to tour our campus and talk with our faculty and staff.
