Family Weekend 2021 is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 1 & 2, 2021, and we are excited to welcome all our families back to campus this year. To register, click here

Virtual Cooking Class
Chef D and Chef Kimberly share their professional and delicious talents in an engaging virtual cooking demonstration. Their experience in teaching makes it easy to follow along in the student's own kitchen and they will learn skills that they'll carry with them for life.  What a wonderful, fun, and delicious activity to do together as a family.  Instructions and a list of ingredients will be emailed to you prior to the event.

Planetarium Shows

Nevins Hall-3rd Floor/Room 3004                                                     
Show Synopsis: While attending a local star party, two young students learn how the telescope has helped us to understand our place in the Universe. Two Small Pieces of Glass traces the history of the telescope from Galileo's 1609 spyglass (composed of two small pieces of glass) to the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope and the future of observational astronomy. It explores the wonder and discovery made by astronomers throughout the last four centuries. Each show is limited to 25 persons and is 25 minutes in length. The shows will fill on a first-come first-served basis.

The Copeland African American Museum
2525 N Patterson/North Campus 
The Copeland African American Museum is unique because it is the only African American Museum on a college campus in the state of Georgia that focuses on more than African American art. With 100 pieces of history in the rotating collection, guests can view 1/3 of the collection when they visit. There is an interactive section within the musem where visitors can select videos to learn more about a certain topic.

Get ready to enjoy a tasty lunch with our VSU Vice-Presidents and our very own VSU President Dr. Richard A.Carvajal. A lunch ticket will be provided to you at check-in.  

Guided Art Tours

Odum Library is home to the largest collection of art at Valdosta State University. We invite parents and students to visit for art tours guided by Archivist, Deborah Davis.  Tours will start in the South Atrium. Highlights of Odum’s art collection includes original Rembrandt etchings, African Art, the Lamar Dodd collection, and works by Ross Rosenberg.  Lamar Dodd, described as “the most influential Georgia artist of his generation,” left an artistic legacy at institutions like the University of Georgia and NASA. This influence is demonstrated in the quality and variety of his personal art collection which is showcased at Odum.

Blazer Walk

Greet the Blazers as they arrive and make their way to the stadium. The Blazer Walk has added excitement and tradition to Valdosta State football games.

VSU Football Game

Join us as we cheer on our Blazers to victory over Shorter. You will have the opportunity to purchase football tickets when you register for Family Weekend. Those tickets will be $5 each for general admission. You may also purchase tickets on the day of the game at the main southeast gate. However, those tickets will be $10 each for general admission. VSU students enter free with their VSU One Card ID.
