Summer Conference Assistant Application
Valdosta State University offers services to several camps and conferences during the summer, including housing. The camp participants are generally high school and college age students. Being a conference assistant is similar to working for a hotel and being a Resident Assistant. You will meet a variety of people and no two days will be the same. Due to the varied schedule of conferences, it is preferred that conference assistants do not take classes during summer session II or III.
Duties and Areas of Responsibilities
• Administrative Tasks
• Check-in and check-out residents
• Inventory condition of rooms and assess damages
• Report maintenance issues
• Work front desk
• Be available weekends and evenings in case of emergencies (if on duty or back-up personnel)
Customer Service
• Serve as a representative of Valdosta State University
• Act as a resource for campus visitors
• Assist conference participants

Compensation
Stipend of $77/week
Free room for the summer
Note: You are required to buy a meal plan for the summer

March 1, 2013 Applications due to the Housing office by 12 pm
March 7 – 12, 2013 Signup for interviews via email (not all applicants may get an interview)
March 25 – March 29 Interviews
April 5, 2013 Notification of status sent to candidates via email
May 2013 Employment begins (exact date TBD)
In addition to the Housing staff application, you will also need to fill out the online application with the Student Employment Office . Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
