The Woodwind Studies area at VSU offers a wide range of experiences for a woodwind major.  Five dynamic, full-time woodwind teachers with extensive performance backgrounds offer individualized instruction in a close-knit environment.  All music majors are taught by faculty that foster a true sense of community in their studios.  Music students have the opportunity to participate in specialized workshops, master classes by notable guest artists, and major international and national conferences.  Students can perform in a variety of ensembles including wind ensemble, marching band, concert band, jazz ensembles, and chamber groups.  The Valdosta Symphony Orchestra is another ensemble opportunity available to select music students where they have the unique experience of performing in a professional setting alongside their studio teachers.

We invite you to phone us at (229) 333-5804 (Music Office), (229) 333-5815 (Dr. Eischeid - Woodwind Area Chair) to arrange a visit to campus. We can arrange a variety of visitation activities with members of the VSU woodwind faculty. An audition is required for admission to the Department of Music and for scholarship consideration.
