The VSU saxophone studio provides a wide range of learning and performing opportunities. Beyond weekly lessons, students have the opportunity to participate in saxophone quartet, jazz combos, and an array of large ensembles. Performance opportunities are diverse, from studio class to student recitals for the entire music department.

Whether you wish to pursue a degree in Music Education, Classical Saxophone Performance, Jazz Saxophone Performance, or receive a Bachelor of Arts in Music, VSU's saxophone studio provides an exciting learning environment. The studio participates regularly at conferences of the North American Saxophone Alliance, and the Annual Saxophone Quartet Workshop is held at VSU during the spring semester of each school year. Recent graduates have gotten jobs as band directors throughout GA, have gone on to prestigious graduate schools like Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and North Carolina School of the Arts, and have had active freelance performance careers.

Lessons emphasize the building of strong musicianship and technique, as well as exposure to a broad selection of music. Jazz and classical styles are encouraged equally.
