What is a Graduate Assistantship?

Graduate Assistantships at Valdosta State University provide practical opportunities to conduct coordinator level work while pursuing a master’s degree. In the division of Student Affairs, you will develop strong interpersonal and professional skills by gaining experience beyond what a structured classroom can provide.

Benefits of being a Graduate Assistant

Here at Valdosta State University, we are committed to engaging students in meaningful experiences and providing intentional support. Aside from the financial benefits, many graduate assistants have opportunities to develop and implement programs, supervise student staff, and have direct oversight of important operations within a unit.

Graduate Assistant Opportunities

The Divisions of Student Affairs provides a variety of graduate assistantships a student can participate in during their time at Valdosta State University. With the guidance and supervision of a trained student affairs professional, professionalism, self-motivation, academic and personal balance, servant leadership, and responsibility, will all be skills that you develop through our program.
