Yangzhou University (YZU) is a key comprehensive university at provincial level. It has its roots in Yangzhou Teachers College, Jiangsu Agricultural College, Yangzhou Engineering College, Yangzhou Medical College, Jiangsu Water Conservancy College and Jiangsu Business College, some dating back as early as 1902. The merger of these colleges and institutions in 1992 into YZU kindled a reform in education, which is still underway, in present China.

Location

Yangzhou University has seven campuses, all adjacent to each other and within walking distance. All these campuses are located between the old city of Yangzhou and the new part and are easily accessible. Each campus has its own libraries, computer labs, language labs, sports ground, residential halls, canteens, clinics, and other students services. See more information on individual campuses.

Yangzhou, where Yangzhou University is located, is a culture-loaded city with a long history of over 2500 years. The city is located in the central part of Jiangsu Province, north Shanghai. The city itself is a museum of Chinese culture and a beautiful Chinese garden. As small and quiet as it is, one has easy access to all the latest modern conveniences here, too, while enjoying its traditional heritage.

Through its 15 colleges (College of Humanities, College of Sciences, College of Political Sciences and Law, College of Arts, College of Foreign Language Studies, College of Physical Education, College of Engineering, College of Water Conservancy and Architectural Engineering, Agricultural College, College of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, College of Bio-science and Bio-techniques, Medical College, Business College, and College of Tourism and Cuisine), YZU offers its 26,000 undergraduates 67 undergraduate programs covering 11 disciplines registered in 47 departments/divisions.

Room and Board

YZU provides on-campus lodging with canteens and recreational facilities. The hotel-like rooms have air-conditioner, TV set, telephone, and an independent bathroom. The international students lodge is on the Slender West Lake Campus. In each room, there are two beds, two bookshelves, two chairs, two table lamps, two round chairs with a tea-table and some other necessary furniture and utensils. On each floor, there is a large kitchen which can serve ten people to cook at the same time. International students can also eat at the student dining room, which is only a five-minute walk away. There are also washing machines on each floors.
