IN ORDER TO APPLY FOR THE VSU NURSING PROGRAM YOU MUST FIRST BE ACCEPTED TO THE UNIVERSITY; THESE ARE THE STEPS TO BE ACCEPTED TO THE UNIVERSITY:

A. First, submit an application, found on VSU’s main web page: http://www.valdosta.edu/welcome.php.

You will first need to create a student account in Georgia Futures before you can complete the application, so do that first.

The application fee waiver for Active Duty or Separated Military Service Members must be uploaded with your application and can be found at : https://www.valdosta.edu/admissions/undergraduate/documents/application-fee-waiver-for-military-service-members.pdf

B. Second, update your FAFSA or satisfy the verification of lawful presence through one of the steps found on this page: https://www.valdosta.edu/admissions/undergraduate/verification-of-lawful-presence.php  

C. Third, Submit transcripts from all your post-secondary education.

D. Fourth, an immunization form will be required prior to attending in-seat classes or select online only on your application if that is your intention.

This will satisfy your admissions folder and render a decision within a week.

EMAIL THE CONHS ADVISING CENTER (CONHSADVISING@VALDOSTA.EDU) REQUESTING A TRANSCRIPT EVALUATION. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR NAME, STUDENT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER, AND A COPY OF YOUR LES IN THE EMAIL.

A. If you were previously enrolled in a nursing program within the last five years, you must submit a petition to the School of Nursing Admissions and Progressions Committee for permission to apply to the BSN program. For the student      petition, the student classification is pre-nursing. The petition type is other: Permission to Apply to the BSN program.  Below is the link to the student petition form.

In addition to a student petition form, a letter of good standing is needed from the nursing school you were previously enrolled in. Please include official copies of your academic transcript as well.

 

 

IN ORDER TO BE ACCEPTED INTO THE BSN PROGRAM MANY OF YOUR PREREQUISITE COURSES WILL NEED TO BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO THE APPLICATION DEADLINE.

THE ACCELERATED BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS WHO HAVE EARNED A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN A NON-NURSING FIELD.
For acceptance, students must meet all of the School of Nursing admissions requirements.

Once students are accepted into the accelerated BSN program, the program is four semesters. Students enroll in the accelerated BSN program each May and graduate the following July (approximately 15 months). Each semester students are enrolled in the nursing program, students will be enrolled in 15 credit hours.

STUDENTS WHO COMPLETE THE HESI A2 EXAM AT A LOCATION OTHER THAN VALDOSTA STATE UNIVERSITY, PLEASE REQUEST FOR EVOLVE TO SEND YOUR OFFICIAL HESI A2 SCORES TO CONHSADVISING@VALDOSTA.EDU.        (THERE IS A $15 FEE TO SEND YOUR HESI SCORES TO VALDOSTA STATE UNIVERSITY)

A. To eligible for admission into the nursing program, students must earn a 75 or higher in the following areas:Reading Comprehension
Vocabulary and General Knowledge
Grammar
Anatomy & Physiology
Math
B. If students take the HESI exam twice, the highest attempt will be used in the nursing admission decision.
