VALDOSTA, Ga. – America’s Small Business Development Center’s (SBDC) 2026 State Star for Georgia calls Valdosta State University home.
Alyssa Foskey is the director of the University of Georgia’s Small Business Development Center at Valdosta State University (VSU). She was recognized as a State Star during America’s SBDC annual training in Atlanta.
“It is an honor to represent our great state,” said Foskey. “Working to make our business community better and seeing small business owners’ dreams become a reality brings me such joy.”
The State Star Award recognizes outstanding individual achievement within America’s SBDC Network. State Stars are nominated by their peers with winners being selected by their state directors.
Foskey was selected for her strong commitment to small businesses in the Valdosta area and for her statewide expertise in childcare-related businesses. She has worked in her current role since January 2019.
One recent client of Foskey’s had this to say about her impact: “Working with Alyssa has changed the trajectory of my business. Her knowledge and expertise are second to none.”
The University of Georgia’s SBDC at Valdosta State University is one of 17 SBDC area offices in Georgia, providing expert business and economic development assistance to entrepreneurs in Atkinson, Berrien, Brooks, Clinch, Coffee, Cook, Echols, Lanier, Lowndes, and Thomas counties. As part of VSU’s Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration, its center combines practical experience with advanced education to support the growth of South Georgia’s small businesses.
