VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University and Wiregrass Georgia Technical College recently signed three new articulation agreements, creating clear pathways for students with two-year technical degrees to continue their education and achieve advanced academic and professional goals.

The two institutions have enjoyed a longstanding partnership dedicated to advancing education, workforce readiness, and economic growth throughout South Georgia — and these new transfer pathway opportunities will open doors to new opportunities for VSU and WGTC to create a positive regional impact and strengthen rural communities.

“Valdosta State University is proud to partner with Wiregrass Georgia Technical College to create new pathways for student success,” said Dr. William Crowe, interim president of VSU. “These articulation agreements reflect our shared commitment to expanding access to higher education and ensuring that students can seamlessly continue their academic journey while building on the valuable skills and experiences gained at Wiregrass. Together we are investing in the future of our students, our workforce, and the communities we serve across South Georgia.”

WGTC students with an Associate of Science in General Business can now maximize the transfer of credits as they seek to continue their education at VSU and pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, Applied Economics, Finance, General Business, Management, or Marketing.

Students with an Associate of Applied Science in any major offered at WGTC can now apply their associate degree coursework to a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership at VSU. The same is true for WGTC students who earn an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice and wish to continue their education at VSU and pursue a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.

WGTC students wishing to take advantage of any of these opportunities will be required to meet all VSU admissions and program-specific requirements.

These agreements reduce credit loss during transfer, shorten time to degree completion, and lower the overall cost of higher education. They also provide students with greater confidence that the coursework completed at WGTC will directly support continued academic progress at VSU.

VSU values partnerships that create opportunities for area students to remain in their communities, advance professionally, and contribute to the long-term success of South Georgia. This collaboration with Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is especially important in rural communities where access to higher education and workforce development opportunities can directly impact economic growth and quality of life.
