Bridge Closure Reroutes Traffic Around VSU Campus

VALDOSTA, Ga. -- As the spring semester gets ready to begin in Monday, Jan. 12, there is a traffic alert for those who drive to and from campus via Baytree Rd. and utilize the west entrance into the Oak Street Parking Lot.

The Sustella bridge by the Oak Street Lot between the Complex side entrance and the Student Rec. Center is closed until further notice. 

Students, faculty, and staff who park in the Oak Street Parking Lot or the Oak Street Deck will need to use the east side entrance from Oak Street. Centennial Hall residents and those utilizing the Rec. Center and the Fieldhouse will still be able to get into the Oak Street Lot via the west entrance.

This could mean extra traffic through the Oak Street Lot. Please remember to drive slowly through this area and follow all stop signs. VSU Police will be adding patrols to this area to ensure those parking and walking in the lot are safe.

There is currently no timeline on when the bridge will reopen.
