Morgan Hill Recognized During Academic Honors Program at VSU

Morgan Bailey Hill of Echols County, Georgia, is the recipient of the 2022-2023 College of Nursing and Health Sciences Outstanding Senior Sciences Award and Division of Athletics Student-Athlete Academic Award at Valdosta State University. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences during VSU’s 235th Commencement on May 6. She plans to return to VSU “to play my fifth year of eligibility for softball. Then I plan to go to physical therapy school and later specialize in pediatrics.” She is pictured with (from left to right) Dr. Richard A. VALDOSTA — Morgan Bailey Hill of Echols County, Georgia, is the recipient of the 2022-2023 College of Nursing and Health Sciences Outstanding Senior Sciences Award and Division of Athletics Student-Athlete Academic Award at Valdosta State University.

Hill was recognized during VSU’s annual Academic Honors Program on April 27.

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences Outstanding Senior Sciences Award is presented to a student with a record of academic excellence and distinguished service inside and outside the classroom.

The Division of Athletics Student-Athlete Academic Award is presented to a junior, senior, or graduate student-athlete with the highest grade point average. Ties are not broken. Hill is a member of the Blazer Softball team, where she serves as a utility player and often pitches and plays outfield. She also won this award during the 2021-2022 academic year. 

“I am very thankful for my time here at Valdosta State, my professors, my classmates, my teammates, and my coaches,” she shared. “I feel that this final award represents the pinnacle of my undergraduate studies and, at the same time, the foundation of my future studies.”

Hill graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences during VSU’s 235th Commencement on May 6.

As a student at VSU, Hill was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Hill’s commitment to academic, athletic, and leadership excellence resulted in her earning repeated Dean’s List recognitions and a number of athletic honors, including 2021 Academic All-Gulf South Conference, 2021 College Sports Communicators (formerly the College Sports Information Directors of America or CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team, 2021 First Team Academic All-American, and 2022 Academic All-Gulf South Conference. She also earned the President’s Award for Academic Excellence, which is presented to a high-performing graduating student in each of VSU’s six colleges, including the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She was a Zell Miller Scholar.

Her supportive family includes parents Shelby and Rebecca Hill.
