VSU Participates in Inaugural Christmas Card Cruise

VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University is competing for the title of Favorite Card during the Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority’s inaugural Christmas Card Cruise.

VSU’s card features everyone’s favorite Who-hating green grouch, who appears to be up to no good as he tiptoes along Blazer Boulevard behind Main Campus’s iconic West Hall dome. Is he absconding with the red V State ornament he has in his long Grinch-y fingers, or is he bringing Blazer Nation a gift to add festive cheer to the university’s lighted palms?

That’s up to viewers to decide.

VSU’s card was created by Katrina Crumpton, administrative coordinator with Housing and Residence Life, and a team of talented students — Daniel Alford, Andrea Heyward, Caterah Watts, Angelica Cason, Jermaine Abron, Nathaniel Reives, Bria Jasper, and Alexius Stokes.

Crumpton led a student team last year in designing and decorating a holiday tree for Wild Adventures Theme Park’s Christmas Tree Village. Guests were able to vote for their favorites with monetary donations that benefitted The Salvation Army, and VSU’s tree won first place.

The Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority’s Christmas Card Cruise may be viewed in person at Freedom Park, 3795 Guest Road. Cards are located along the main road inside the park.

Everyone can vote for their Favorite Card through noon on Monday, Dec. 21, by liking their favorite card at https://www.facebook.com/VLPRA/posts/3526911397362985.
