VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University hosts its annual Holiday Celebration and Lighting of the Palms at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, on the West Hall Front Lawn.

Dr. Richard A. Carvajal, president of the university, invites students, faculty, and staff to attend this festive — and free — event featuring the VSU Spotlighters performing various holiday tunes; appearances by The Grinch, Santa’s elves, and Santa Blaze; a bit of magical South Georgia snow; hot chocolate; and an opportunity to watch everyone’s favorite green Who-hating grouch on the big screen.

Current students with a valid 1Card will have the added bonus of enjoying free V-State mugs and beanies, chocolate bombs, and do-it-yourself homemade Christmas ornaments.

Faculty and staff will have an opportunity to purchase the V-State beanie and a mug combination for $15 on Thursday, Nov. 19, in the Office of Student Life on the second floor of the Student Union.

Greek Life encourages students, faculty, and staff to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Lowndes County Inc.
