VSU Waives Test Score Requirements for Undergraduate Students

VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University continues to waive SAT/ACT scores for all first-year undergraduate applicants who meet high school grade point average, high school curriculum, and other established requirements for admissions.

Following guidance from the University System of Georgia, this decision is an effort to adapt admissions processes at VSU due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, which has led to a more personalized approach for new applicants following the cancellation of testing services by the College Board and ACT. As always, VSU remains committed to the individual success of its students.

VSU initially waived SAT/ACT scores for first-year undergraduate students during the summer and fall 2020 semesters. The latest guidance from the University System of Georgia allows VSU to continue to waive these scores for students seeking admission for the upcoming spring, summer, and fall 2021 semesters due to limited testing availability that has negatively impacted prospective students.

Students who have SAT/ACT scores may still submit them.

Ryan Hogan, director of VSU’s Office of Admissions, says, “Throughout this unprecedented time in our world, our Admissions team has remained committed to connecting with prospective students about the benefits a degree from VSU has to offer. We are focusing our time and attention on getting to know each of our prospective students on an individual level and sharing with them how VSU can help them achieve their hopes, dreams, and goals.”

Prospective students are invited to take a virtual tour of the university at www.valdosta.edu/visit. In-person on-campus tours are now available and are scheduled by appointment only, one family at a time.
