Career Opportunities Hosts The Exchange Oct. 15

VALDOSTA — The Office of Career Opportunities at Valdosta State University will host The Exchange, a communications and marketing jobs fair, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, in the University Center Magnolia Room.

Current students and alumni planning to attend should dress professionally, arrive early, and bring several copies of their resume. The first 25 attendees will receive a 4 GB wristband USB drive.

The Exchange features employers from the broadcasting, financial services, insurance, retail, government, and wholesale business career fields and offers everything from full-time employment to internships. Black Crow Media will conduct on-site interviews for sales and marketing executive positions and for on-air personality. Candidates for the on-air personality position should bring demo reels of their voice work to the job fair.

“This fall we are having ‘niche’ job fairs to target the majors that employers are seeking,” said DeLois Hargett, employer relations coordinator with Career Opportunities.

Upcoming events include The Command, a law enforcement and political awareness jobs fair, on Thursday, Oct. 22; The Case, a social services jobs fair on Thursday, Oct. 29; Graduate and Professional Schools Fair on Thursday, Nov. 5; and Education Career Day on Thursday, Nov. 19. Each job fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the University Center Magnolia Room.

“All of the fairs are a great opportunity for students and alumni to establish and/or maintain relationships with employers,” Hargett said. “We wish to do an exemplary job for both students and alumni and simply want to help both ignite their journey with Career Opportunities.”

VSU’s Office of Career Opportunities strives to provide career development and awareness, experiential learning and/or cooperative education, and professional employment opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students and alumni. Its staff collaborates with the university’s employer and community partners to develop the employment potential of students and graduates and to utilize their innovative, intellectual talents.
