VALDOSTA — During the 2015 summer, Valdosta State University is offering more than 60 fun and educational camps, covering everything from athletics and the arts to science and computers, for boys and girls ages 4 to 18.

Synopsis: This camp is designed to teach the basic fundamentals and concepts of the Valdosta State Spread Offense and 4-3 Defense. This camp will be an opportunity for the Valdosta State coaching staff to evaluate student-athletes who are not normally seen in the immediate Valdosta State University area.

Synopsis: This camp is open to serious and motivated players entering high school with a desire to play collegiate basketball. Participants will receive instruction specialized by position, with some overlapping of drills and contests.

Synopsis: Players will learn the techniques of the modern hitter, including the correct grip and set-up, proper bat path, and explosive lower half mechanics. Players will also learn the proper fundamentals for throwing and taking ground and fly balls as well as proper pitching techniques.

When: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. June 27

Target Population: Girls entering grades 9-12
Cost: $100, includes lunch
Synopsis: This camp is designed to improve the skills of players wishing to play at the next level. Participants will utilize Lady Blazer practice drills that stress advanced ball handling and passing skills, offense, defense, and game control for point guards, and shooting guards and off guard/small forwards. Drill work will include post moves and countermoves, post positioning, post passing, body balance, post defense, strength and conditioning, and more.
