VSU Student Named Director of Georgia Residence Hall Organization

Joshua Arrington

VALDOSTA – Joshua Arrington, a Valdosta State University student, was voted the Georgia Residence Hall Organization (GRHO) director for the 2014-2015 academic year at a conference in Atlanta on March 22.

“From the moment I stepped foot on VSU's campus, I was being shaped as a leader by the people around me,” said Arrington. “My environment and different events drove me to become a better leader and to help people. This year I had a lot of support from the executive board, VSU Housing and my advisors.  I couldn’t do any of it without their support.”

Arrington is a third-year anthropology major and dance minor at VSU with hopes to become a forensic anthropologist. He currently serves as the national communications coordinator for the Residence Hall Association (RHA) at VSU.

As national communications coordinator, Arrington represents the VSU RHA at regional and state conferences and boardrooms, physically and online through Skype.  His responsibilities include coordinating all conference related items such as travel plans and spirit items. He also assists in writing bids and letters of recommendation for various RHA awards at the state, regional and national level.

Nebrisha Askew will become VSU’s next national communications coordinator when Arrington officially takes the GRHO director seat.

Arrington looks forward to working with the new executive board and advisors as GRHO director. He hopes to help solve problems by increasing communications between different RHAs in Georgia through Skype chats with different RHA presidents with a goal to learn from one another.

GRHO is a student-led organization that promotes leadership training, honoring diversity and engaging student leaders.  GRHO pledges to support and advocate the interests of Georgia college and university residents.
