Living Well with Diabetes Event March 13

VALDOSTA – Valdosta State University’s Campus Wellness will host a Living Well with Diabetes event Thursday, March 13 from 3 to 4:15 p.m., in the Student Union Meeting Rooms 1 and 2.

The event will consist of two guest speakers who will discuss nutrition and general diabetic health. These experts include Lisa Thomas, BSN, MSN, district nursing & clinical director at South Health District and Dawn Taylor, RN, BSN, MSN, CDE, nurse manager at the Diabetes Management Center at South Georgia Medical Center.

A VSU chef will also provide a special treat by making easy snacks for people with diabetes. Extra snacks can be taken home to give to friends and family. Free information and blood pressure screenings will also be available.

The event is free and open to all faculty, staff and students. Those wishing to attend should register by Friday, March 7 at www.valdosta.edu/training. Click the training registration button to access the database for registration. You can still attend the event if you miss registration.

According to the American Diabetes Association, 25.8 million people in the United States have diabetes.
