HIV/AIDS Awareness Week

VALDOSTA -- Valdosta State University’s HEROS (Helping Everywhere Reaching Out) will host HIV/AIDS Awareness Week from Monday, Nov. 28, through Thursday, Dec. 1.

This dynamic week is dedicated to educating the community about the growing epidemic of HIV/AIDS in the state of Georgia. Faculty, staff and students are invited to join the fight against HIV/AIDS by wearing a red ribbon throughout the week.

List of events:

Monday: Know Your Status, Get Tested: Free HIV/AIDS Testing, Student Union Ballrooms A & B, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Please bring VSU ID

Tuesday: Red Alert Showcase featuring the Red Pump Campaign, Student Union Ballrooms B & C, 7 p.m., Admission is $1 if you wear red and $2 if you do not wear red

Wednesday: Red Topped HERO Bake Sale, Student Union Display A, 12 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., All tasty treats for less than $1 each!

Thursday: World AIDS Day: Kill the Noise Forum with Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., 7:15 p.m., Jennett Lecture Hall

All proceeds raised throughout the week will go towards children infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS in the state of Georgia. All events are open to all VSU students. For more information, please contact Erika McCoy at eymccoy@valdosta.edu.
