SIFE to Feed 'Hungry Hearts' Saturday

VALDOSTA -- VSU's Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) has pledged to collect 25,000 pounds of nonperishable food items during the Let's Can Hunger drive -- a national hunger initiative sponsored by SIFE and the Campbell Soup Company.

The local drive, Hungry Hearts, kicks off this weekend with a promotional cookout from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12, at Sam's Club, 450 Norman Dr. Proceeds from the cookout will be donated to VSU SIFE so that the organization may purchase goods to reach its goal by the April 15 deadline.

Throughout the week, the public will be able to feed a family of four for one week by purchasing a case of raviolli, a case of corn and a case of applesauce for $19.18. Donation bins will be located near the store doors. Second Harvest of South Georgia will collect food donated to the Hungry Hearts drive and distribute it to regional food pantries and homeless shelters.
