H1N1 Vaccine now Available at Student health

VALDOSTA -- Valdosta State University Student Health Center is now providing the inactivated H1N1 Influenza vaccine to high-risk students, faculty and staff. The vaccine will be available to others beginning Wednesday, Nov. 11.

High-risk patients are persons who have medical conditions such as asthma, chronic lung disease, diabetes, heart disease, weakened immunity, and other chronic conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications; persons who live with or provide care for infants aged <6 months (e.g., parents, siblings, and daycare providers); and health-care and emergency medical services personnel who have direct contact with patients or infectious material.

Administered in shot form, the vaccine is free and available during regular operating hours at the Student Health Center on Georgia Avenue. Appointments are not required. For hours of operation or more information, call (229) 333-5886 or visit http://services.valdosta.edu/health/appointments.aspx .
