Students Receive Georgia Society of CPA Scholarships

VALDOSTA - The Valdosta chapter of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA) presented scholarships to six students as part of its 2009 Educator's Night held Tuesday, Nov. 10, in the University Center.

Each year, the chapter gives scholarships to deserving students in Valdosta State University's Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting program. Representatives from regional CPA and investment firms as well as local banks joined members of the GSCPA to honor students who will share $3,750 in scholarships.

Recipients, deemed "Rising Junior and Senior Accounting/Financial Stars," included Stephanie Parker, Keeley Taylor, Sahil Grover, Michael Johnson, Eufemia Ketz and Lea (Christi) Davis.

The GSCPA provides networking, continuing education and service opportunities for its members, who are from the fields of accounting, industry and government. Over 500 members serve the GSCPA team in some capacity.
