See What's 'Happening' at VSU

VALDOSTA - Valdosta State University will be hosting its 18th annual “The Happening” from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, on the VSU front lawn. The event was originally scheduled for Aug. 27.; however, it was postponed due to inclement weather conditions.

More than 100 businesses and community groups from the region are expected to line the front lawn with booths featuring free food samples, prizes and promotional giveaways. VSU departments, student groups and other campus organizations will also pass out information and engage students in balloon tosses, basketball throws, miniature golf and many other activities.

It is free for businesses and campus organizations to participate in the thrilling, yet informative, day. No selling is allowed on campus, so students should not worry about spending their lunch money. Registration forms for businesses, community groups and campus organizations may be found at The Happening Web page on the Student Life Web site, http://www.valdosta.edu/stulife/TheHappening.shtml .

Parking is available in the North Oak Street and Sustella Avenue parking decks. Load-in and set-up will begin at 11:30 a.m. on the front lawn. Those businesses and campus organizations that need a vehicle to unload materials may park in the load-in area designated in the Nevins faculty/staff parking lot. All businesses and organizations must check-in at the information tent upon arrival, then move any vehicles to appropriate parking sites. Call the Office of Student Life at 333-5674 for more information.
