VSU Hosts 33rd Annual International Dinner

VALDOSTA - Valdosta State University’s Society for International Students will host the 33rd Annual International Dinner at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 800 Gornto Rd.

Guests will dine on dishes from more than 25 countries and be entertained by traditional and modern music, dances and skits. They can also interact with VSU students from various countries and participate in raffles and auctions for authentic international souvenirs.

"It is such a great experience and a unique opportunity to try different dishes from around the world," said Marcela Leiva, president of the SIS. "Guests can meet members of the international community and they are sure to enjoy this educational experience with a fun twist."

More than 100 international students will participate in the night's success by participating in their own ways. Some will cook, others will entertain and many who have helped to publicize the event will be on hand to greet guests.

Those who love the eclectic combination of international food can purchase a special cookbook, which features authentic international recipes that can be made with local ingredients.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 with a valid VSU ID. Children under the age of five can enjoy the festivities for free. Call the Center for International Programs (229) 333-7410 or stop by the office on Georgia Avenue next to the Student Health Center to purchase tickets in advance or visit www.valdosta.edu/sis for more information.
