Drum and Bugle Corps Perform Tonight

VALDOSTA - The Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps will perform "Sounds of the South: Voices of the Seasons" at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium, on the corner of East Brookwood Drive and Williams Street.

Based out of Jacksonville, the premier touring drum and bugle corps was formed in 1999 by Michael Butler and Danny Clark, and features 135 of the most talented high school and college music students from across the southeast United States. The group offers top quality performances in a variety of styles with an intense, competitive flair. The Valdosta performance is part of a national tour.

"Expect the equivalent of a professional marching band, offering precision drill, movement and high quality music, combined," explained Cliff Lipscomb, VSU professor of business and staff coordinator for Teal Sound. "Each corps will take you through an 11-minute show, each with its own theme and style."

Tickets are available at the will-call window at $19 for general admission and $15 each for groups of 20 or more. Refreshments will be on sale and guests can participate in various raffles and events. Proceeds will benefit Teal Sound and the VSU Blazin' Brigade, as well as Lowndes High Bridgemen and the VHS Marching Cats. Will-call opens at 4:30 p.m. and gates open at 6:30 p.m. Contact Lipscomb, (229) 245-3774 for more information.
