Relay for Life Hosts Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction Tonight

VALDOSTA - The Relay for Life planning committee at Valdosta State University is hosting a bachelor/bachelorette auction at 8 p.m. Monday, March 31, at the Old Gym.

Interested parties will have an opportunity to place bids on eligible bachelors and bachelorettes, with all proceeds to benefit the Relay for Life. The highest bidders will be escorted by their dates to a movie night on Thursday, April 3, with refreshments provided by Palms Dining Center.

The auction is just one of many events and projects planned to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s relay efforts. The Powell Hall team is accepting donations and providing in return a lollipop and the chance to win a hand-made VSU quilt at the relay. The department collected T-shirts from various departments on campus, including athletics and orientation. Pam Whiddon crafted the shirts into a one-of-a-kind quilt that a lucky winner will cherish for years. Members of the Powell Hall team will be at the University Center from 1-2 p.m. Thursday and on the Pedestrian Mall at various times during the next two weeks. Call (229) 245-3878 or e-mail mgibbons@valdosta.edu for more information.

Other campus groups are raising money for the relay as well. For more information about the 2008 Relay for Life event at VSU, e-mail Rachel Baker at rdbaker@valdosta.edu .
