Alcohol & Other Drug Education receives $9700 Grant

For the third consecutive year the Valdosta State University Office of Alcohol and Drug Education has received a grant from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). The amount of this year's grant is $9,700 which will be used to purchase brochures and videos to increase the resources available to students.

The focus of the grant is to increase awareness regarding driving under the influence of alcohol and seat belt usage. The grant will also allow the Office of Alcohol and Other Drug Education to continue to use peer education students to attend training conferences sponsored by GOHS and Bacchus Gamma Peer Education Network, which is a university and community network founded in 1975 at the University of Florida that focuses on good decisions that will lead to a safe and healthy lifestyle.

The Office of Alcohol and Other Drug Education also sponsors the annual Alcohol Awareness Fair at VSU.
