VSU's College Bowl Team Finishes Fifth in Nation

Valdosta State University's College Bowl team took fifth place at the recent College Bowl National Championship Tournament 2006, at the University of Hartford, in Hartford, Conn., April 21-23.

In addition to being the only Division II school out of 16 teams competing for the national prize, the VSU College Bowl team beat out literally thousands of teams at the campus and regional levels, just to have the privilege of making it to the national competition.

The VSU team members are: David Dickey, a senior in history; Jarrod "Mitch" Alday, a senior in English; Mikey Alday, a senior in education; and Josh Higginbotham, a junior in communications arts. Mitch was also selected as the winner of the Pat Moonen Sportspersons Award, given to one team member at the national competition who best demonstrates good sportsmanship and positive play.

VSU's Division of Student Affairs will host a reception in honor of the College Bowl team on Wednesday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to noon, in the University Center Executive Room. The reception will feature a mini-match between the College Bowl team and a panel of VSU administrators, beginning at 11:30 a.m. This reception is open to all who wish to congratulate the fine accomplishment of VSU's 2006 College Bowl team.
