Dr. Brian Adler named new Graduate Dean

Dr. Brian Adler will become the new dean of the Valdosta State University Graduate School, effective July 1. Adler will direct all current graduate programs and new program development.

In making the announcement VSU President Ronald M. Zaccari said, "Dr. Adler is an excellent choice as Dean of the Graduate School. He has proven himself to be an effective leader in his position as interim Dean and previous responsibilities with the Honors Program. Dr. Adler fulfills an important role within the University's vision to strengthen graduate programs."

Adler, who previously served as the acting dean of the VSU Graduate School, stated that he would like to move forward on a number of things that would take the Graduate School and the university to the next level.

"I am excited to have been chosen to be the dean of the Graduate School," Adler said, "I want to help the university develop a stronger visual and concrete presence for the graduate school, with a concentrated effort to broaden and expand our marketing approach."

Before serving as the acting dean of the VSU Graduate School, Adler was the director of the university honors program and coordinator of liberal and interdisciplinary programs.

Adler received his Ph.D. in English from the University of Tennessee. He received his M.A. in English from the University of Georgia and his B.A. in English from the University of South Carolina.
