Valdosta State University's Department of Early Childhood & Reading Education is hosting its annual Teaching and Learning Conference on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in VSU's Education Center. This year, the topic is "Looking at Student Work with Critical Friends."

Conference participants will be introduced to various methods of interpreting student work to determine if their instructional practices are yielding desired outcomes in mathematics and language arts. The conference will explore key issues, including: the need for collegial review of student work, establishing student learning goals, identifying school culture issues that affect student achievement, and ways of informing instruction by analyzing student work samples.
