Continental Airlines' Chief Executive Officer Designee to Speak atVSU's Harley Langdale Jr. Lecture Series

Valdosta State University's Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business Administration announces a public invitation to attend The Harley Langdale, Jr. Lecture Series featuring Mr. Larry Kellner, Chief Executive Officer Designee of Continental Airlines. The event will take place on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at 10 a.m. in the Pound Hall Auditorium located on the VSU's Rea and Lillian Steele North Campus. Mr. Kellner's lecture is titled ?Continental Airlines: Worse to First.?

On January 16, 2004 Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) announced that as of January 1, 2005, Larry Kellner, Continental's President and Chief Operating Officer, will assume the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Kellner was named President and elected to the Board of Directors of Continental Airlines in May 2001, and was given the additional responsibilities of Chief Operating Officer in March 2003. He joined the airline in 1995 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and was named Executive Vice President and CFO in November 1996.

Prior to joining Continental, Kellner was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of American Savings Bank, and earlier was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Koll Company. Beginning his career at Ernst and Young, Kellner has the distinction of being the first three-time winner in the history of the CFO Excellence Awards presented by CFO Magazine.

Kellner serves on the Board of Directors for Marriott International and Belden & Blake Corporation. Active in numerous community and civic organizations, he is a board member of the YMCA of the Greater Houston Area and the Spring Branch Education Foundation. Kellner, as student body president, received his B.S. degree in business administration magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina, which also presented him with the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1998.

The Harley Langdale, Jr. Lecture Series provides Valdosta State University business students and the public an opportunity to hear lectures on a wide range of business-related topics presented by experts in their related fields. This series of lectures is another step in the Langdale College of Business Administration's commitment to provide its students with high quality education by broadening their horizons and introducing them to real life experiences.
