Dr. Jo Ann Bass honored as Georgia's Reading Teacher of the YearUniversity/College Level

The Georgia Reading Association has honored Valdosta State University's Dr. Jo Ann Bass, professor in the Department of Early Childhood and Reading, with the Reading Teacher of the Year University/College award. The presentation was made in Atlanta on February 28, 2004.

The Georgia Reading Association has given this award for 25 years. Its mission is to promote the full literacy development of Georgia's student and adult population to ensure that each person becomes a full contributor to society.

Dr. Bass was nominated by the Cook Area Reading Council in Adel and received her honor at the Georgia Reading Association's 25th Annual Conference. Dr. Philip L. Gunter, dean of the College of Education said, ?Without a doubt, this was a highlight of the conference, VSU should be proud of Dr. Bass?. Ten VSU faculty members along with 16 undergraduate students were in attendance.
