Alumni golf tournament to benefit SIFE team

Valdosta State University Alumni Association and Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) will host the "Blazin' Shamrock Classic" on Friday, March 14, at Stone Creek Golf Course. Registration and lunch begins at 11 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at noon.

The tournament is a four-person scramble (with handicap) and the cost is $340 per team or $85 a person, which includes cart and green fees, lunch and two drink tickets.

First and second place team prizes will be awarded for gross and net score, along with prizes for closest to the pin on all par-3 holes and two longest drive holes.

According to Terry Frederiksen, alumni director, SIFE will receive the proceeds from this year's event. "This events helps provide financial assistance for SIFE members to travel to regional and national competitions as representatives of Valdosta State."

Last year's SIFE team was named third runner-up in the RadioShack SIFE National Competition, in Kansas City, Mo. Each year SIFE members complete 30 to 40 local outreach programs, which offer educational opportunities for children and adults in the community.

Corporate and individual sponsorships are still available and players can register individually or as a team, by calling the Alumni Relations office at 333-5797.
