Artwork of Victoria Skinner on display at VSU

Valdosta State University welcomes a new exhibition by artist Victoria Skinner, Jan. 14 - Feb. 1 in the Art Gallery (Fine Arts Building). An opening reception will be held Jan. 14 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Skinner's exhibit is titled ?Duke of Diatoms? and her work consists mainly of paper collages and digital prints. ?I hope to achieve a balance between apprehension and amusement, the disturbing and the beautiful,? Skinner said. ?Much of my work deals with interrelationships of creatures, whether they are humans, animals or something in between.?

Skinner maintains a studio in Lake Worth, Fla., and has received several art grants. She received a Master of Fine Art degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art.

The Art Gallery is open Monday - Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, please contact the Art Department at 229-333-5835.
